Hi Missy... I'm trying to send you a pm about this but there isn't an option to do so on your personal page as I currently see it.  Is there a way you can change that for me, please?  Thank you.  ~Jade

Storm Rising

Her grey eyes darkened at his words
she could feel the humidity rising
this time there would be runnels
down her cheeks
instead she would bring hail
as she harnessed the nor'easter within her
and blew it down south
sheering his manhood
extinguishing
his gas lights
with her body
(and knife)
electric

Rage of God

The eye looked just once but never winked nor blinked
Turbulence in seconds that seem to never end
Like a gale that devastates everything in its wake
Like a blizzard that doesn't care for spared

Darkness in daybreak and clouds obscuring sunlight
Sight blinded hope while terror hovers all around
With the heart of men struggling against the binding mud
Fighting for existence, despite the sea of blood

Tears had gone unnoticed as they stood under the downpour
Devoid of protection amidst all the destruction
Ears had gone deaf from the scream that was their own
Chilling from the core, fearing life is no more

And who would be safe when God is in rage?
Nature's wrath would win no matter how prepared
It will come, it is here, and we are at war
By then we'll be reminded that we are only humans.

Inferior...

Small Price for Beauty

Serene bivouac
on mountain lake shore
sunrise diamonds strewn
make placid waters brilliant

Campfire, Sugar Pine mixture
perfumes crisp morning air
Blue Jays in perpetual protest
sound much-too-early reveille

Tent flaps thrown wide
anxious anglers emerge
determined that Rainbow Trout
be on the breakfast menu

Hunger sated, minds invigorated
down verdant trails exploring
occasional scamper up granite towers
feeling small mid majesty surveyed

Come afternoon
like the afternoon before
blue sky disappears
neath heavy laden clouds

cumulus fleet encroaching
releases their liquescent cargo
glassy lake surface erupts
like a million-fish feeding frenzy

Desperate sprint to camp’s shelter
safely ensconced in tents
sudden stream rushes under
surprisingly impermeable floor

With haste, their raison d'ętre complete
unburdened clouds sail away to replenish
promising to return tomorrow
Sun again takes center stage

Teacup

It was all a storm in a teacup
It was all just a fad
Just a silly phase
Teenage angst
Raging against the man
Left wing rebellion
She’d get over it
Yeah, she’d get over it
They all do, right?
Right?
She’d got over the drug thing
Even got over the drink thing
She no longer slept with him
She had an expensive shrink
That eating disorder temporary
Bi-polar, just a label, right?
What we didn’t see
What we couldn’t see
Was the internal storm
The grey swirling clouds of despair
The rolling waves of elation
Hopelessness and helplessness
Combined with euphoria
And the realism of delirium
All this under the surface
All this we couldn’t see
We genuinely believed
It was all a storm in a teacup
It would all blow away
How wrong can parents be
How blind and disconnected
The storm was real and present
And this realisation only came
As we laid her to rest
In a brass handled wooden box
No longer a storm in a teacup

August Fields

My heart always wished
to traverse a meadow, so
I obliged
and set afoot among grasses, shoulder
height.

I have become so small, in
places where deer lay and
wildflowers carpet
yet-unexplored lands.

My lips have fallen off, and
I speak only from recesses
in my mind, where
God lives.

My eyes are drawn overhead, where
gray-green skies, roil with
ominous clouds.

Heightened senses, scent
of ozone, heat
and heavy air, promise
a drenching.

I shall run
with the cyclones, sure
to touch down,  and
beat the Devil to
the crossroads.

Tempest---for "It's A Knockout" comp

The day starts mildly enough
but the midday heat
soon becomes oppressive

the cooling system kicks into overdrive
bringing stress to the surface
but it can't evaporate

a cool breeze breaks the stillness
as the sky blackens with doubts
and the air is charged with fears

the heavens threaten to retaliate
shouting obscenities
as I run for cover

I seek shelter in my room
because it has no windows
but I can still hear the terror unfolding

I grip my blanket tightly
and keep reminding myself
that this will pass

the storm has passed
just as quickly as it came
but I can still feel the rumbling

the waters have receded
and the structure is intact
but the lights are out

some of the lines are down

a stranded voyager

am drawn to tragedies of others
as a moth flies into the fire
just to be in the eye of the storm
so, I can forget my own
and pretend to care

am a voyager stranded in a boat
and pretending that
the sea is calm and warm
the sail is set to the sunset
the sun will shine brightly
over my dark clouds…

hoping they will just disappear
without a blow
just by ignoring

but,
I know it’s not true
soon I will meet the storm
twisted inside my selfish desires
one day…
it will hit me in my base
collapsing on my head
will I stand after…?

I let the sea decide
