WITCH
After the day acquiesces its domain
To the other side's cool waft of evening thrill,
Sends a tease of shiver up her exposed thighs,
The little witch of Simon Street takes a stroll.
Her half-shaded lips and eyes eclipse their gleam
While breezes beyond the pier across the way
Undress her body of palest rose petals,
To make the moon turn profile in envy.
Fishmongers, whose boats line the wharf's reflection,
Stop, nets at their feet, to catch a glimpse of her
Walking by, slowing her pace, to let them admire,
And know, as she passes, their nostrils fill not with fish.
The sighs from these dark strong men fade once they bend,
Gathering nets for the trip out to deep waters,
Yearning to earn the pay to win her treasures,
Guided by Sirens, to fill their catch of her.
Bewitching is her craft and shape-shifting curves,
Sailing down the cobblestones of Simon Street.

Hello All, and thank you, every single one, for participating in A Heart of Gold with your unique ink... involving just about every shade of the spectrum when it came to the theme!
Now comes the part that has a host wish there was the option to give more than one first place trophy, as there were many deserving possibilities that came out of this. I loved the humanity expressed in each of the following, and so without further adieu:
1st place, with his entry, "FIRST TIME", congratulations to Gahdess_Worship!: (excerpt)...
"Relax handsome why so morose
sheds her robe slowly drops to one knee
limp not ready not even close
I think I’m failing Geometry
Looking up giggling what did you say?
I noticed your diploma, Masters in Finance
Can you tutor me? I will still pay
I will do so with pleasure oh king of romance..."
Runner-up, with his entry, "Glory of Harlot", congratulations to John Feddeler!: (excerpt)...
"... at home, she would sit at her vanity table. she would
appraise herself in the fragile light of the mirror. in her
ololiuqui trance, she would dab droplets & slight streams
of Lancôme lotion on her face, and imagine it was the cum
of brutal men she knew, or fantasized about. she would say,
‘you’re a filthy, disgusting whore.’
she wanted to beat herself with those words, to hurt herself.
but somehow, it filled her with a certain defining glory..."
Runner-up, with her entry, "The Red Cord", congratulations to MadameLavender!: (excerpt)...
"...She placed
Joshua’s men, hidden
‘neath a flaxen roof, for even
spies of God, face
death in Jericho.
“Rahab—Thy sins of flesh
Are covered in grace, and
harlotry hath been
redeemed in reverence
to the Lord of Israel,
Rahab—
Fear not, for
mercy be placed
upon your house, amidst
destruction, in
exchange for passage—“...
I'm proud to have been able to have this competition come to such a rich conclusion by all of you. My gratitude!
Hope to see you all again next time!
warmest regards,
Jade

Jade you are too kind! Thank you so much for the honor of participating in such an intriguing competition. I win every time I take on the challenge of writing for a competition because it forces me to stretch my poetry and storytelling muscles entering undiscovered realms of creativity. I am forever fascinated by what compels people to do what they do, become who they are. My poem explores how one, who by tragic injustice and financial necessity is driven to become something she's not only to be guided to her true calling. A quest I share with the main protagonist.
Thank you again, dear Jade, for the wonderful competition and for a win that I share with all who participated. Bravisimo a todos!
