Deepest Secret

I am me barely being me in the shadows
Hidden under these sheets
Consumed by a heat
Unknown, but yes, I know

I walk the path once again
Through slopes and slides
And sweet secrets I hide
Twisting not quite in pain

Murmurs and chatter
They hide my screams
My beating heart, pants of breath
My flight in a magic dream

Eyes shut tight, I hold tight
My pure fire
I twist and shiver
Let go of the river

As I emerge from the cloud
I take a look around
No one here, sweet relief
But how come I feel grief?

I fix myself
Collect what's left
And face the thieving sun
That robbed me of my wildfire

I am me barely being me when I'm out of the shadows
Because their rivers are shallow
I hide behind cloaks and spectacles
The sheer truth in shackles

Undress my mind
Take the wild out of the refined
But no one is around
To know I'm positively dark

I created something beautiful and no one’s ever saw it
No one’s ever heard it, not something that I’ve flaunted
It’s something that’s intangible, something one could feel
It’s something deep within me that no one else can steal
Something that came from my heart for no one else to see
Many souls may covet this but it belongs to me.
