THE EGYPTIAN CAT GODDESS
Bastet, the Cat Goddess of Health and Healing
Joy, music and dancing
Protected humans against pestilence
And evil spirits
Bastet expressed the qualities of the cat family
Beauty of movement, agility, strength
Caution, Fidelity, Pride, Protection
Oh Lady of the East, Goddess of the Rising Sun
You are both a Moon Goddess and a Sun Goddess
All in one - because of your eyes
Your all-seeing eyes see through the dark
Guardian Saint of Firefighters
Saving the lives of those in the house
Protector and friend of women and young children
Bastet protect others, as she protects her kittens
Finally Bastet was the original "sex kitten"
Her sensuality and fertility attested to that
She is feline and feminine, free to relax, never take life too seriously
Take many naps, luxuriates in beauty
Sways in graceful movement, independent of the opinions of others
Curled up in a circle, the cat is a symbol of the eternal.

The Sphinx
Growing up in an enchanting island
filled with mythical folklores,
I became fascinated with the Sphinx:
has the haunches of a lion,
the wings of a great bird,
and the face of a woman.
Mythicised as treacherous and merciless,
malevolent and ravenous monster--
strangled and devoured passers-by
trying to enter Thebes - a Greek city
when they can't answer her riddles,
until Oedipus finally solved them;
bested at last,
she plunged to her death
according to ancient Greek myths.
Now that I'm growing gray and wiser
I learned a different version
about my favorite mythical beast:
typically shown as a man -
benevolent guardian flanking
the entrances to Egyptian temples
to guard the mysteries within.
It doen't matter to me which myths
to believe: Greek or Egyptian
because to me the Sphinx
will always be a mystery,
and just a myth... until someday
I get close and see for myself.

the Leviathan
If ever my sights
Lay upon the mighty form
Of the dragon from the sea,
I will cower and hold my heart,
Close to me as can be.
And silence all sin from me.
Least he smell my mortality.
I beg of you to follow!
And cower along with me.
For when his eyes lay their sights,
Upon the souls at sea -
So tiny before his length,
Longer than his inhabited seas-
His eyes of emerald sun
Will laugh and turn in glee.
His mouth will open,
No teeth to see.
To far, to wide-
His snout to the sky,
Jaw to deep.
Only the stench of rotten death,
The abyss of rolling night,
The screams of distant pasts,
Will be the winds
That drag us straight to hell.
Finally, thunder for his roar!
He'll close his maw once more.
Harmless he will be,
Smug with his lucky victory
That stole the breath,
The soul from the flesh,
Of the damned lost at sea.
Whose only flaw,
Or so it be,
To be the meal for a beast.

The light flashes, crashes,
the rolling thunder comes,
chanters sing for the thunderbird
as do the drums.
We, the people, believe…,
the beating of its enormous wings
causes thunder and stirs
the uprising of the storm winds.
The thunderbird is Wakį́yą,
our bird god, creator of storms
thundering while he flies,
shattering the quiet he transforms.
He pulls the clouds together
with its wingbeats,
the sound of thunder,
made by its wings clapping.
Sheet lightning,
flashes from its eyes
each time he blinks,
it lights up the sky,
Smaller bolts are made
by the glowing snakes
he carries around in his
talons without escape.
The thunderbird is Wakį́yą,
our bird god, creator of storms
thundering while he flies,
shattering the quiet he transforms.
We, the people, believe…,
the white man does not know,
the thunderbird brings the rainy season
for the seed crops we sow.

- Loud as a Dragon -
Shall I roar as loud as a dragon, to shake all the earth?
Behold ye the wings of the great beasts as they soar…
And what magnificence, they bear, when given new birth!
Like proud lions, they are, in both peace and in war.
Sharp their claws, and strong their scales, as no other!
A queen must be as sharp and strong, to be truly great.
The dragons’ fire beats in the breast of the divine Mother,
But in mine as well, for in me is the fire no ice can sate.
Let the foes of my glory tremble, for my roar will echo,
Across field, fen, mountain, mist and all that lies before!
I bring the dragons; I bring the flame, to all here below,
Beneath the sun, the moon, the stars shining evermore.
Shall I be their mother, as I am mother to my children?
Then come, all ye winged ones, and cry along with me!
Let thy roar join with mine: together lion and dragon…
Shall set the world ablaze, from the rocks unto the sea.
What treasures shall we discover, that is our very right?
Not all such things are gold and silver, of mortals made.
Behold the moon, is she not a treasure in darkest night!
What once was is come again; the Mother is the Maid.
Dragon treasures are more than the wealth of mankind,
And are not my wings of light as fair as a dragon’s own?
Fly with me, my children, and be not ever left behind!
This day we show the world fury beyond flesh or bone.
As loud as a dragon my royal roar shall be thus heard,
For eternally it shall echo, carrying forth my very word!

Giants
The ground shakes and men's bones tremble,
The giant on the causeway walks,
The sky rumbles and mountains crumble,
The giant on the causeway talks,
The wind roars and the rain falls,
the giant breaths his breath
and walks our land without fear of man or any other dread.
Kings of causeways and coasts and Mountains of forest,
Man has never known such fear,
Even a man as cruel as me pissed himself at the sight of
who would spend all day whether work or play picking me from their teeth just as sure as jack was a thief.
Their ancestor titans now trapped by the world were to much for gods to even handle
They drew them away from a life of play and wine and scandal
But now we come to real life,
and you should know that I'm the giant,
Ill hunt you down with fee, fi, fo, fum
AND I DARE YOU TRY AND DEFY IT
