Now let me tell you about my three brothers
related by interests
not by parentage and blood

Soulful, intelligent, intense
the written word is one part of their worlds
for music they do appreciate and play
students of the world
put away the Dos Equis

The first I encountered quickly
down the road of poem production
so astutely noticed musical references
the language of love pulses through his pen

The second I call my brother of nature
breaks it down to elemental parts
diverse constructions his forte
acrostic-tanka and haiku in full effect

Last but not the least is the man of conscience
privy to the deeds of humans
anything but conventional
forces me to smash the box
and examine abstracts

So here is my offering of peace
gratitude for influences poetically found
brothers keep on

Playing
Examining
and above all

A colorful tribute for some DU cool cats

Johnrot must've overdosed without me,
I'd ask his avatar but he hung himself in the shower
wearing tube socks and sniffing Junkgirls panties
while chronically masturbating to pics
of Anna_grins columbian necktie 

typical genius,

I wanted to be Wings sad suicide
after I finished slugging shots of jager
with Nikkimoe in the backseat of her car
to avoid a nasty hangover

Ghoulie dropped her stash the last time she logged on
so Alastars up to his nose in bong hits
waiting for Slayer69 and Evan's political onslaught
to keep the masses interesting
for the those of us that would rather listen to Missys spoken word
and the illuminati conspiracies

but on a lighter medium,
Soul_man_ken has some groovy paintings
that work like psychedelics on the cerebrum
it's just a shame I hardly notice
considering Magdalena and Scribbler12 blew my mind
with their grasp on quality poetry greatness

Crimson is the only girl I know that can rock combat boots
and a gentle soul all at once
something I admire and worthy of a tribute
as well as Clio13 who can slander conformity with style,
her and Caliban inspire others to write with conviction
even if society finds it rather vile

Indie had all us bleeding hearts in a fetal position
before she blew the scene
but I'm sure the DU respected her decision
as much as her poetry
oh,
and before I forget my modesty,
Blackvelvetrose and Devilish are so talented and sexy
they'll have you converting to DP
to read the rest of their writing

Though nothing seems different
everything's changed
except for the passion
and the few that remained
still penning away
pining, digging down
bleeding ink, still wet
for the read
then turning around
pondering the words
of their peers
mostly with support
and a back pat

sometimes, like critics who've
published a hundred books
bestsellers-with attitude
rude like there's any excuse
that's just abuse
but they're the exception
fortunately not the rule

the names are too many
It's the characters that matter
in this realm
we have a blend of naive
and jaded patter
a mix of persona's behind pen names
ranging from sunny to never darker

we have amateurs that will never rise up
and stars just waiting to be discovered
the best and the worst from every school
of thought and thoughtless

lovers and losers
fighting for their say
romances sparked and dying
everyday

random stupidity interjected
with heavy observation
discussed til rejected
and we're all affected
in some way

this place is everything, or nothing
based on what the individual wants
or doesn't

a haven or a Hades
filled with give or takers
a good many fakers
and some honest good ones

it's what you make it
