"Fireflies and Nightscapes"

Count the glittering stars
which seem to move within
the stale night air,
close your eyes, inhale
and just lose yourself.

You can make it through this,
it’s been done before, and-
you’ve been in tougher spots
you just need to stop, think,
find your courage, and fight.

Life is played like one big movie
and honey you’re the star,
adoption isn’t the end of the world-
you’re giving him life,
a life he couldn’t have with you
and you didn’t listen to those
who don’t understand your situation-

They didn’t believe that you could make it
and honey now that time has passed
you shine brighter than any star ever could-
a role-model for those in your position,
a story of heroism, courage, and faith,
a star who found her shine once again
in a world so cruel and ruthless.

Stars

There's a patch of sun
Behind every cloud
I know I'll reach it
Somehow

I can throw up my arms
And wish for a rainbow
But it doesn't shine
Until there's been rain

The world can weep
And I can weep
For the sorrows that pass by
But there's always more smiles to arrive

Maybe the stars are hard to find
Hiding them with the darkness inside my mind
But that's okay
They'll have to shine someday
While I've got them
It might as well be today.

"Prayers for An Empty Lair"

Seemingly hopeless in
my bottomless pit,
I see the Borealis
in waves,
winking patience.
Her brand of kindness
rains spit on my silence,
she's downright
mean, cold-hearted.
I feel violence
that never solved anything,
staying on my knees,
I hear the
winds of change
carried on the breeze.
The sting of her torture
stifles, downpours on
my good-natured parade,
I'm soaked in pain.
Playing the charade,
her deck of cards
will tumble when
the sacred answers
my fervent prayers
to leave this
dark lair
empty
for
her
reward.

LOST

In the great halls lined with ivory

I pursued a career that eluded me

No matter that I had the pedigree

No matter that I had so many degrees

Those who mattered could see

I was in a bad marriage

With reality

It vexed me so to know

That despite the vow to succeed

The unmentioned qualities

They said they needed

Were absent

Not because I did not try

Only because sometimes

There is no answer to why

I hid for many years

For I was proud

Did not want to be seen

Humiliated by the ruthless

Retreat was the only tactic

Where I could hide and introspect

It has been about fifteen years

I can see the reaction

To nasty people is only to run

You cannot fight

Begging makes them want blood

So now to others

I do console

That flight is necessary

Fight sometimes does fail

There is no point in pressing

A handle that will not yield

I am Pavlov's cat

I cannot be ruled

So hidden I must stay

Use magic to find my way

Until the universe says

My karmic debt

Has been paid.

Pointless
============
She swore at me with
words that i
never thought i'd hear
her say,
and i swore back
refuting that she
was the one who
was indeed wrong,
and that all
our fights
wer pointless
and over the heat
of anger,
in the midst
of the argument
i pushed her, hard
onto the bed
and kissed her,
hearing her sweat
with words
i never thought
i'd hear her say
and i swore back,
refuting that
our fights
were all
pointless

Knowledge Of Self

She walked a path
where love dripped
like acid on her skin
from situations
where life was at fault
to situations
where the lover was at fault
life blew on her hands
and kept slipping
through her fingers

her losses were great
and devastating
the ones she did not lose
were cruel and brutal
the torment too much
she walked away
not without the taste
of his wrath
for the few years
that followed

She left "love" behind
took a different direction
one of isolation
and loneliness
where she became comfortable
in the world
she built around her
that allowed no one entry

Months drifted into years
her mind became very strong
and knowing
she became friends with herself
and became
very aware of her own power
within her own mind

Reflection
brought great realization
and she grew
in strength
and in knowledge of self

She became the person
she always was
yet never knew
then love opened the door
and gained entry
she holds onto hope
and the strength she has

Hair Like her Mother -

She always wanted to be blond
to high-light her brain in sunshine
bleaching those deepened hues that dye her.

“Blood black , Black on fire.”
That’s what he used to say
“Hair like her mother."

She's ran from these whirling flames
for so long. They follow her everywhere
wind whipped tendrils blocking her view.

So she keeps ruffled down bound close
rolling herself up into her roots
few aware of how they ache from the inside out.

Always forced to reflect on
treatments, and conditioning that rinse away
she searches for a new style.

But all the washes in the world
can not hide truest color. When she looks
in the mirror, and those words

“Hair like her mother“
reflect back.

Deflecting, diffusing glaring affects
she brushes smooth hopes
that one day this

" Hair like her mother "
will be just hers...

For-rest

cicadas sing succulent
Droning earthen growl
Lying beside bonfire desires
Lightning glance blinks flowing on breeze
Dance of the fawn encircled by trees
Prance in the wake of the fallen leaf
Twig,the sprig once more
Ilex verticillata
Pinholes pushing pressing
Down harder

Through night sky
Lunas light flashing fortnight
Dew carried kiss
The pull in, pushing of knee
as I stretch curved around
This and the they
Woodland garden sound
Firepit embers illume its soft glow
Growth
climbing up through the ground
Eyes of the owl
Follow flights in the bat path
as its wings beat thumps
Scrawling the skies
Barrel rolling
Gesticulated cries
wolf packs hunt here
Serenading night doves
The underbrush, the foxglove
Beckoning howls
in the night
A racoon scurries
astray and amscray
Moonlight seer, him blind
as the forest trails ,lead
seedling,vine
off and to the side
From brooks of the glen
The dragon flies
amongst campfires
stoic friends
Singing song and stoking the flames
Tip in the toe
This Circle of stone
Astral protection
From oncoming rain

Tentatively Eostre
I say
