KALLIOPE (or Calliope) was the eldest of the Mousai (Muses), the goddesses of music, song and dance. She was also the goddess of eloquence, who bestowed her gift on kings and princes.
In Classical times, when the Muses were assigned specific artistic spheres, Kalliope was named Muse of epic poetry. In this guise she was portrayed holding a tablet and stylus or a scroll. In older art she holds a lyre.
Kalliope was the mother of the bard Orpheus. When her son was dismembered by the Bakkhantes, she recovered his head and enshrined on the island of Lesbos.

CALLIOPE PLEASE HELP ME
Calliope - the foremost of the nine muses
Calliope - the patron of epic poetry
Calliope - mother of Linus - inventor of melody and rhyme
Calliope - the eldest muse
Calliope - holding a writing tablet in your hand
Calliope - with your wisdom
Calliope - can you please help me?
Come - clear voiced Calliope
Come - Calliope - daughter of Zeus
Come - Calliope - admired for your poetry and songs
Come - Calliope - who inspired Homer to write the ILLIAD and the ODYSSEY
Come - Calliope - with your golden crown
Come - Calliope - come forth with your musical voice
Thus spoke Calliope:
Poetry is the silent voice that is heard everywhere inside us
Poetry is a painting that speaks
Poetry is truer than history
Poetry liberates words from their definition
Poetry heals the wounds inflicted by life
Poetry is the autobiography of the poet
Poetry is often a prayer
Voltaire said - Poetry is the music of the soul
Aristotle said - Poetry expresses the universal
Van Gogh said - Poetry surrounds us everywhere
Mikhail Dudan said - Poetry is not a profession, its a destiny
As for myself - this is my view
- poetry lets loose my inner demons
- poetry lets loose my fantasies
- poetry helps me with my observations
- poetry helps me sleep
- poetry soothes my brain
- poetry helps with my desires
- poetry helps me deal with my insecurities
- poetry liberates me from past abuse
So kind reader please be aware
- my poetry is my saviour
- my poetry keeps me sane
- my poetry is not grammatically perfect
- my poetry is just me

GREEK GOD/GODDESS
NEMESIS
Spirit of divine retribution
Against those who succumb to hubris
Distributor of fortune
In due proportion
To each according to what was deserved
The avenger of crime
There is no escape
Nemesis, dark-faced Goddess
Daughter of Justice
Winged balancer of life
Restrain the frivolous
Insolences of mortals

It's called letting go
I'll light up matches
to burn sheer longings,
memories, melancholies,
sorrows, blues and black
so i could have a night
with Morpheus again.
- Loved the competition!

The Pleiades
The Pleiades,
The Seven sisters,
The beautiful daughters of Atlas,
Seven points of light,
Whirling forever across the heavens
In their endless dance.
Do you realize
We can see right up your skirts from down here?

Pygmalion's Meditation
Great Gods of Fate and Fury
guide my hands and
bless these implements
as they attempt to channel passion
into the making of a marvel
granting warmth to an expression
a tribute statuesque
to the power and compassion
you have somehow siphoned into
this one dynamic form
Help me
Nay,
Allow these hands
to catch those sparks of shooting stars
and place them in her eyes
to hear an ardent heartbeat
thumping out my name
to put to shame and rest
all those hollow harpies
that sought to swoop, devouring
from my mortal breast
the life's blood and dreamed-of flesh
contained within this marble womb
I shall name her
... G a l a t e a ...
Pure, perfect, and unchangeable
My Magnum Opus
and indulgent gift unto myself
I pray thee, hearken, Aphrodite.
For if you suffer man,
give me but a chance
to whisper you my wish.
Give her life
that she and I may share
this time together
I fear, without her lips' taste,
that I shall waste away in pining,
in denial
that life could be worth living apart
from the finest poetry of my craft.
An ideal made manifest;
the dream that should not die.
Keep her young as I decay,
hale and hearty as I fade.
Allow me just this mortal span,
this attempt,
to love her as no other man
could possibly assay.
Are you listening my sweet?
Can your spirit hear my pleas?
I am anxious, trembling, waiting, wanting,
to invite you to our home
and I can only hope
you are somewhere in this stone
