Deja Vu

poet Anonymous

Poetry Contest

Write a poem about a Deja Vu experience (person, place, thing, etc).
No limit on words.

Poetic license on style.

Collaborations accepted (both poets will get credit if selected as the winner).

One entry per poet.

Good luck to everyone.

Déjà vu The term déjà vu is French and means, literally, "already seen." Those who have experienced the feeling describe it as an overwhelming sense of familiarity with something, someone, or somewhere that shouldn't be familiar at all.

I feel that I've been to Brokeback Mountain many times.

I'm working on it. Surprised that no one has yet entered this, I hope they do.

De Ja Vu

You would think that at three o clock in the morning
someone would notice the boy bouncing the basket ball
and on closer inspection shudder at the black eye
or the swollen lip with hard blood left to linger

Then again maybe it is just as-well no one does
the kind of people knocking around the street now
are hardly the most maternal minded of people
waiting for a chance to share their love of Jesus

Me? well even if I could muster enough strength
to stagger over to the kid bouncing the damn ball
I would probably just be greeted with the same
vacant stare that he gave me this time last night

"WTF"
by:  Eric L. Boddie

What is really going on
I mean something must be wrong
I have seen that girl in that dress
Just like now she was posing to impress
Those same guys were shooting hoops
And damn, that guy was driving the same silver coup
The Bud Light commercial, now this is freaking me out
HELLLL NAWWWW....if this dude comes up talking about trout
He damn sure did....just what does this mean
How do I know these things....is this a reoccurring dream.....

Twin Fires

We've spent a thousand lifetimes

searched the entire earth

sunrise and endless moonshines

birth to countless birth

played a million beings

to be at each others side

friends and familial relations

lives where our fire could hide

I've called to you in the mists of darkness

Whispered for you with Helios’ shine

sought you in the daylight’s starkness

heard your sighs in my mind

Now in this dispensation

When two flames blaze into One

knowing that familiar sensation

still your beauty does not come

I sense you in the heavens

as this incarnation expires

I'll chase you through galaxies

To rejoin fire with fire

I swear I've seen that look before
The painful darkness in your eyes
I look in the mirror at myself
Why does the wolf cry to the moon?
I wonder why we've come so far
I wonder who you really are
I've known you 20 lives ago
Another world
Another show

Like the moons orbit around my Earth
Love and hope give birth

I feel your gravitational pull
And I find you once more
Waiting by an open door

Again!

Here we go again
A resemblance to who you were back then
I see the same face drenched in sin
I sense the same monster caged within
Singing the same song dancing to the same beat
Instant replay everything is on repeat
Yesterday transfered to today
The past became the present to my dismay
Will this be the future? I sometimes wonder
Will the repetitions finally be put asunder?
Conversation with my reflection as the clock strikes two
The same look of disappointment it's all deja vu

You have a different name,
different style, different game,
you have a different type of look,
a different cover on your book,
different type of hair and eyes,
different type of truth and lies,
yet here I am,
overwhelmed,
by this familiar bittersweet feeling,
of being in love and being heartbroken,
at the same time,
it seems you're just like her,
you're my Deja Vu,
thought there was only one girl who,
would treat me like the biggest fool,
but it seems instead I've found another,
dealing a pain I just can't smother,
you're my Deja Vu.

Around the Eternal Clock

At the instant
of recognition
the voice,
the words,
the smell,
the taste
on my lips,
the thousandth time,
the resonance,
the instant comfort
and the whiplash
of seeing
again.

Copasetic copulation
and integrated
sensations
wrapped
in the flicker.
