THE LONGEST DAY

The longest day

June, in Northern Canada

Waves of grain

Horizons forever

Flat land spreads

Out to vanish

Into the sky

The day rose

Would not die

Clear air, bright sun

Only eleven pm, time for bed

No says the sun

It is my turn to dance

To declare that summer

Is here, do not sleep!

Stay up all night

Keep me company

As I keep you bright

Remember December

I disappeared

I missed you all

I call you to hear

The silence of night

With the colour of day

Please stay awake

And watch my light display.

* I tried to make it free-verse, but rhythm and rhyme seems to come more natural

--------------------------------------------------------

The sun is setting on the longest day
Fireflies and mist.

The bonfire crackles. The fields are sown.
The veil is rather thin.

A maiden of dark on the shortest night.
I'll stay until the dawn.

We'll raise a cone, pound a drum
and dance entrancing songs.

The wheel turns and time moves on.
But the heat and flames won't ever fade.
They just go someone else's way.

I WORSHIP THE SUN GOD RA

Believing in only one GOD
I worship the Sun God Ra
Whom Moses called
The One True God
When he was a Prince of Egypt

On Solstice Day
We all pray
To the Lord of Heaven
You are the ONE GOD who came
At the beginning of time

You created the earth
You did fashion man
You made the sky
You made the waters
You made the beasts of the field
You gave life to all

Blessed thou, Oh King of the Universe
On your solstice day
When you show your might
When you stay the longest
When you bless us with your light.

Blistering heat waves
Still breeze

I miss the snow

I want to freeze

Sweat beads on my neck
I jump in the water
What the heck

My feet stick in the muddy bottom

Some grass stuck in my hair
I rise to the surface
Gasping for air

This was no fun
My winter was done

Summer is here
I feel rather queer

nervous and sweating i was command to freeze
the summer sun whispering the rights that belong to me

The Weld

Blister me on your celestial tour
and force me to yearn for your foe.
When you reduce me to a mechanical puddle
and hunting elusive shades,
I long:

I long for the twiggy fingers
on bony branches that scratch up
at the greys and whites;
trees on their knees reaching for heaven
hoping for seasonal mercy,
I long for the sharp wind
that cuts the air
and cuts whatever's too bold or stupid.

You may dazzle me when the mood fits
when you're sitting low
and gracing skyscapes with reds and oranges
as you set or rise to kiss our surface,
but beauty never quenched
but drowned me in your fire's fumes.

summertime by many is considered the best
i like it because skimpy is how the sexy ladies dress
pretty toes out complimented by tats on sexy flesh
effortlessly seductive desires never get to rest
day dreams are born by soft sultry legs
& within their eyes 1 will find the reason a man begs
the sweet aroma of perfume with glossy luscious lips
along with freshly manicured fingertips
air conditioning can beat natures heat but their sexiness can not be cooled
to think it can is to truly be fooled
because the GREATEST Beauty there could ever be
is found when the sun is hottest because they display it for all to see....

parked.

this loquacious one
this middle child too old for fall
still too young to spring
schooling winter with those red hot pictures
summer’s a tease built to please
long overdue on any full view expectations
free throws they just might cost extra
summer's job won't protect you
just dare you to ride her out
here on out it’ll be ever onward
an olympic trial, not her style
she’s more into the poly rhythmic
one theme park right after the next

parked.

it’ll be her as hero
she’ll be the latest blockbuster
the one here; the one on the way out
unchecked; she’ll make that cheeky choice
all the while getting chided for her sexiness
holding in place her stilted smile
doing all this while bored
summer will simply trade it in for that “all-night” laugh
real time is short time; where
a slighted few
they’ll get caught slaying
saying that she’s much deeper than necessary

parked.

yes, depending on what you carry
opinions…they do and will vary
what she leaves behind
this middle child, this
royal hotness; each year
she always plots this
each go round
patiently waiting summer's turn
where hers; hers is the slow burn
and soon enough; real tough
there’s another young fall to learn
the one that

parked.
