Poetry Contest Description
Each participant must write a poem based around a certain philosophical concept, such as nihilism or existentialism; however, the verse must not be merely an intellectual discussion of the chosen hypothesis, but a piece of art in it's own right, with meta
I started work today on a poem entitled "The Nihilist Killer", and after composing the first two stanzas, the idea for this contest struck me.
I'll close the contest when I feel like closing it (there should be enough time for everyone who wants to enter to do so). Good luck!

I have a piece here called Dualist. Its not brilliant but i'll post it here to inspire others and until i'm inspired to do a better piece.
Dualist
Mind and Heart as one entity
omnipotent in action
omnipresent in place.
The engine of desire
linked to the driving force
of the incorporeal
the immaterial
inconceivable
that is the mind.
Clockwork mechanics
ticking away
nuts bolts bells and whistles
that is the body.
One piece moving
falling into place
shadowed by its essence
its aura, its spirit its soul.
Object and sense are one.
Amalgamated together
in matrimony
mind brain synchronisation
multitude of ability
bowing before all
not deemed to fall into dust.

somewhere between epistemology and the philosophy of language
(specifically: the nature of meaning and the relationship between language and reality).
< word meat >
the shape of the word
lets us forget
what is inside
but inside the word
its shape dissolves
eating the meat of words
letting their sweet blood
flow from our mouths
our teeth deep
inside the words
our shape becomes
the shape of words

There is a song by Enigma called "Between Mind and Heart" that has a rather Dualist feel to it:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrP56Pti9CE. It migt be helpful.

Side by side in the grass, it feels
Like the blue is trying to drown me,
Pull me up and out, and it's only the weight
Of you and me that keeps me down.
We've always been a little too close:
Hands slot in like keys in locks,
It's only skin to keep me out
Or you from ghosting through my thoughts
And plucking the webs apart.
If you could, I know, you would:
Reach it and untangle all the knots
And spread them out, a million miles,
Just like the fall of your hair in the spring.
It's only skin that keeps you out,
And I fear it. If we slip through
The net of webs drawn tight
Across our bones and brains,
Then what is there left to hold us down?
We'd bleed until there was no such thing
As you and me, or me and you,
And no weight to keep us down.
And my biggest fear is not the drowning
In the sky that greets in June,
But the idea that upon my drowning,
I and you would not be that,
And I alone would not exist.
Soul Collapse Theory (as my lecturer calls it) - the idea that if two souls contained all the same thoughts/desires/etc., then, having no spatial properties, they would be the same soul.
