The Shadows Chase The Light....
A Long Time Ago,,,
There Were Only Shadows,,,
NO Light Existed In This Place,,,
Only The Darkness Of Outer Space,,,
Then God Created The Universe,,,
He Hung The Moon And The Stars,,,
God Made The Sun To Divide The Day From Night,,,
And Even God Himself Knew,,,
That Shadows Chase The Light,,,
And Even On The Brightest Of Days,,,
The Shadow's Do Dwell,,,Hidden Away,,,
Underneath Rocks,,,In Shades Of Tree's,,,
Behind Buildings,,,And In Streams,,,
And Down In The Well,,,And Out Of Sight,,,
In All Of The Places Hidden From Daylight,,,
Where The Shadows Chase The Light,,,
And Even The Shadows Know,,,
That The Sun Will Eventually Fade,,,
Taking Along With It All The Light Of Day,,,
And Then Once Again Imprisoned,,,
In The Darkness Of Outer Space,,,
The Shadows Await Another Light To Chase,,,

"Breaking Down God"
The air is cliché under the light of a stunningly beautiful God who stands above me.
My knees shake at the sight of the waves of ember, gold twisted in the hands that hold my own.
Down at the bottom of my feet is some kind of clear water that’s warm to the touch on my fingers.
Suddenly some rain clouds faltered our air, my God, my love, he covers my eyes, I already saw them.
The dark and those voices that climb over my fences and rape my thoughts with God and hope.
Then.
It.
Began.
The shadows killed my God,
Took me by the limbs-- pinned me down,
Tonguing all my wounds and bruises,
Their pelvis’s thrusting in my eyes in my brain.
Though I’m screaming at the top of my lungs for help, my love, my God, please help me, Lord!
The gates are melted down to molten lava that they collect in buckets before opening my mouth,
Pouring in the white fire,
The silver stinging over my throat, my heart.
Waves of coal along everything in my whole body,
My body wants them deeper in my mouth.
Then.
It.
Ended.
Now, the shadows are my “God”.

Chasing Self
I run
and I run
gliding on helium
that clear coat
pure and elegant
A tabletop shimmer
falling off
the floor meets with wind
and I forward go
The list is long
a bit longer for some
without wings
It casts its weight
shedding impressions
onto tangled faces
of the once bright futures
declined
Always, always
phantom time
I am new, no more
I dwindle as the shade elongates
and the light trickles
it melancholy farewells
I run
and I run
gliding on helium
that clear coat
pure and elegant
A tabletop shimmer

“Sucking the Fake”
They say that ‘men’
Despots
Low lives
Compromised people
Conjugal in power
Of some grievous lust
Or sheer desperation
Would pull the wings from an angel
Slaughter a village
Bury the corpse
Lie, cheat & deceive
To secure their way
There are graves
And all along the headstones
Or
Unmarked and quiet the earth
That cloaks the fate
Of unknown bones
Lie leaking thoughts
Life is short but reaches wide
For every fate
A word cut sharp
The way a hammer falls
Deep the steel of the mason’s art
Where hollow skulls rage
In silent tongue
With a world of truth
They yearned to say
Ordinary people
Broken lives
Hearts torn wide
By coiled plans and maleficent excess
Or honest to god
Just plain shittery
With no recourse of propriety
For righting the wrongs
Ever the good
Left sucking the fake
Of greedy twisted people

What Martin Taught Me
I look up to my sweet, sweet Brother Martin,
And the revolution he didn't know he was startin.
Cause when James pulled the trigger,
The voices of good people got a whole lot bigger.
And hate pushes some,
While love drives others.
It can show itself off,
From inside brothers.
Deftly, hate maneuvers itself into your heart.
While love was always there, from the start,
And it will stay there, forever.
To be replaced? Never.
Only merely forgotten,
In a pretend world where no one is locked in.
The key is your voice,
Never too late to make a choice,
And open that door.
After all, isn't that what love is really for?
Isn't that whats seeping through your pores?
Isn't that the reason you have a core?
Without it, everybody would be nobody.
Kinda like corpses, slowly rotting.
So what world do we live in,
The world of love shared by every type?
Or the world where shadow chases light?

We were at the beach
all evening-damp-sand blasted-full
We ran-toppled-kissed-held hands-walked
came evening we rushed towards the beach house
stumbling in the darkness we giggled like children
having bought bundles of candle in stead of lukewarm passion
Those pastel pieces of wax were ignited-all of them
lying on our bellies on the bed we watched our shadows
silently fall across the faint white walls
and then chase the light-embryonic
as Edith Piaf rose and shook-us
goosebumps came into being
and died like distant stars
and light got engulfed by
the shadow within the
penumbra and again
chased-faithful
we watched
them
the
shadows
shift and grow
and evolve and fade
then there was darkness
and silence-muffled voices
and mild laughter and more
silence and darkness-voices-
noises-distant-silent-labyrinthine.

It's always there
lurking in some corner
coiled up like a king cobra
waiting to pounce
on whatever light I may have left
and boot it so far into the future
I will be old and grey on the day
I catch up with it
Some days I throw my arms up
And dare it to take me
But it just sits there and mocks me
it will take me on its own terms
It's always there
The shadow
lurking in some corner
coiled up like a king cobra
waiting to pounce
on whatever light I may have left
and boot it so far into the future
I will be old and grey on the day
I catch up with it
Some days I throw my arms up
And dare it to take me
But it just sits there and mocks me
it will take me on its own terms
It's always there
The shadow
