Let me
I want to be your star
Not a regular star
Not just the type you stare at in the sky
Not the ones you often see every night
I want to be the petal that made your flower bloom
I want to be your moon
The one that brighten you
The type that makes the night looks like afternoon
I want to be the host
And you will be the parasite
And my heart will be your home
Where you forever dine
I want to be your lightning
And you will be my thunder
And together we’ll be striking
Forces that try’n put us asunder
Not a regular star
Not just the type you stare at in the sky
Not the ones you often see every night
I want to be the petal that made your flower bloom
I want to be your moon
The one that brighten you
The type that makes the night looks like afternoon

Rose
I walk the street
Of the town labelled "Iroko hill"
I found this tree beautifully lined
The seeds and fruits dully aligned
Like a burning smile
On a sunny sky
The branch and leaves
Looks gorgeously green
Like a flowery beam
A sirius; it seems
The trunk and branch; tall and inclined
The flower glows
I wish she was mine
But I got the answer No
I picked a seed from a bosom branch
To give me hope
I plant this seed into the ground
I hope it grows
That after some years; if I'm still around
It'd yield a rose
But here I am
Stuck with this zombie plant
Although the leaves are bright too
But it doesn't outshine you
It's ego dare not near your might
It's just a subset of your light
So until the sun and moon collide
To eclipse my darkened sky
I won't give up the search
I'd hold on to this very path
Hoping you'd change your mind
And please be mine

Actions without choice
Stackable poxy plastic chairs
pretend to be disco seats,
put a comb through your hair,
coloured lights on your feet.
Your suit is tailor made
for the trisomy chromosome
twenty one, never been laid
or gone out on your own.
You bit me as you kissed me
because you need to eat.
With a coke can on your knee
rocking just behind the beat.
A mouth held up by tongue size
frustration that wont mend.
Judgments made around the eyes
yet you still call them friends.
Growth delays a stronger arm
a mind that's mild to maybe
a baby still amongst the calm
you were sent and saved me.

Xavier Cakes
I can still see his little toddler smile,
His cute chubby cheeks with dimples and all,
And what I always hold so dear about my child,
Is his mother’s resemblance since he was small.
Now at fifteen he is way taller than me,
My old wrinkled hands fit inside of his palms,
But his likeness to my wife is uncanny,
With a cute button nose just like his mom’s.
And in the mornings when I’m brewing coffee,
His sleepy face gives me a drowsy smirk,
I serve him breakfast while we’re in a hurry,
He always tells me “have a good day at work.”
But what gets me about Xavier Cake’s smile,
It’s the way that he can light up any room,
His energy is contagious and tactile,
Like a wave of light can make a flower bloom.
A couple of days ago my son thanked me,
He said he feels lucky in many ways,
He’s happy he has a great family,
Then he gave me the smile that makes my day.

Xander Pie's Eyes
How could I write about one and not the other?
When they’re so close in age they're peas in a pod,
Xander tends to be like me and his brother,
He’s funny and quirky and a little odd.
The boy has this certain personality,
His looks, his style, his likes even dislikes,
They’re close to mine it’s kind of uncanny,
Similar tempers and I’m just like - yikes!
He’s also a caring and loving young man,
Ever since he was little in his playpen,
It was then when I began to understand,
Xander Pie’s eyes were a slice of heaven.
Now at fourteen the boy has outright wittiness,
He talks in memes like dreams he seems to make up,
I love his sleepy face and aside the silliness,
He’s still my baby when I tell him to wake up.
I measure the success of my life through them,
With their laughter, smiles and affection,
All is right with the world when I hug him,
Because in his eyes I see love’s perfection.

Bright Faith
The calendar upon the wall
I hardly ever check to see
Today is gone now comes the fall.
What will the sunrise bring to me?
My faith in God is what I have
To challenge troubles, so I seek
Your guiding insight, steady hand,
I’m filled with joy to hear you speak.
You know the times I’m full of me,
The moments I feel no one cares.
This lamb who wanders thinks it’s free,
It’s you becomes her light and air.
But even when I’m not aware
Short comings when it’s dreary grey,
I go to you without a prayer—
God bless me, you’re my sunny day!

It's Sia!
It's a bird.
No, it's a plane
No, it's a woman
Singing;
spinning a propeller
between her teeth
It couldn't be Jamie Oliver
despite the fact
I'm our chef-failure in chief
It couldn't be the dog whisperer
or the super-girls of Nanny-911
although my little brood
jumps and nips
No, when we go to bed
joy comes when we dance and clap
with Sia!

Cat Adoption
Neutered stray in the neighborhood
Large lost kitten looks for children
Knows his way to a kitty bowl or litter box
Knows how to hunt a string towing socks
Tries to get under or onto our bed
Fights for his turf, getting nails in his head
God knows we didn't ask for a cat
But our little kids did and that was that
We got adopted by a stray breezing through
We tried to say no but couldn't, could you?

Easy With You
To everyone else
I'm a nun on Sunday
But for only you
Every day is Funday
Goody-two-shoes
That's what they all call me
But I'm good to you too
For you all my love's free
Cause I'm easy with you
Oh, baby
I get into trouble with you
So crazy!
Not celibate
But might as well be
That's what they all think
But not you, Baby!

Jaded Sight
That healing green light
for my jaded sight
A Tiger for my ailing soul
A challenge these days
to feel whole
Deep in the jungle of men
where every species
tear and rend
There lives a mighty
Tiger
Greenlit eyes of fire
Owing their glow
to my wheels
at the crossroads
for my jaded sight
A Tiger for my ailing soul
A challenge these days
to feel whole
Deep in the jungle of men
where every species
tear and rend
There lives a mighty
Tiger
Greenlit eyes of fire
Owing their glow
to my wheels
at the crossroads

...Friends...
I bask in the warmth
of your smile like the Sun…
peel off the layers
of pain and protection…
I can show my me to you.
You give me comfort;
touch me for no reason
save you love me.
You will not hurt me.
I can give my me to you.
...in time…
I won't need you anymore…
I won't love you any less...
of your smile like the Sun…
peel off the layers
of pain and protection…
I can show my me to you.
You give me comfort;
touch me for no reason
save you love me.
You will not hurt me.
I can give my me to you.
