Verne

Named Nautilus it's fleeting niche of neon blue betrays and mocks it's reason.
Condemned to venture from northern ports whose trade in warmer season.
To prey upon nomadic merchant or vessels meant for war.
In life's natal nunnery each shall rest whose harm shall be no more.
No care is made to give a thought of their breath now filled with sea.
Not nymph but mercenary or fortune seeker whose soul shall be set free.
No pleasure made but like a nettle whose thorn can not be found.
Where nicotine gives little comfort observing men cry then make no sound.

Beautiful Maiden

As the neon light
Slowly invades the northern sky
Its nomadic movements are for your desire
She’s a nymph with a idyllic spirit
A nunnery was her natal home

Like the nicotine hidden in the smoke
Not like in a niche or a nautical shell
So does her beauty and seduction dwell
If you nettle within her charms
You’ll only feel the sting alone

Picture at an exibition

"The Nunnery" it was a an impressive piece between the royal kings and queens
Portraits full of flattery, ermin robed, but all these held no stories
The artist like the poet uses metaphores
A life of devotion and hidden prayer,  the natal unit the children abandoned at the door the sting like nettles in the foreground woven in the form of hearts.
To lead a pious life of formic acid  so contrite
Christ on the cross looks down his skin brown like nicotine, benevolence a tan of sweetness but his halo's neon shine is dull and dim
Reflected in the pools the devils nymph beware the sins of the flesh, the ripples
A nautilus of satans stealth to walk on water but it sinks, the candles chased illuminates each face, upturned to be vital not taste the fathoms of disgrace
Swamp the calm of all the sisters faith.
The abbess casts a northern gaze her hands point up in prayer, but her compass has been rocked the fabric torn the walls all cracked
To be married to the saviour in that niche  that god provides
Sometimes to be nomadic and walk the path with him, the hills of pilgrimage
loves  great devotion.
Bear the weight of crucifixtion and share the sorrow that hanging image  brings
Like the monochome of scripture just dressed in black and white

Naan scents

Nicotine stains nestle deep in my soul
Neon dreams wrestle my nomadic role

Burned by the nettles of indecision
Chaste by the nunnery with imprecision

Wasted till my head swirls like a Nautilus
Basted in shit by a neuro-natal hippopotamus

A niche in time saves nine of my senses
While Northern invaders destroy my defenses

A nymph on my hook
When I'm fishing for bream
A nymph's where I look
When I'm wishing for trim

Ring around the posies
A rocket full of Rosies
Cigarette ashes and I fall down

Nautilus

I was a nymph to nicotine,
I never thought of neon as my niche
But deep within my nautilus
Was seen the natal aura of my birth.

That once I breached the atmosphere,
And reached the nettle of the nunnery,
I sought nomadic northern town,
And dreamt a dervish spun by stable crèche.

Take gourd of wine in offering,
And climb the path in every footstep’s press,
Till candle light of sunset’s day;
To rest, restore and be reborn again.

Nowhere Else to Go

He was having nicotine withdrawals,
Cradled in the corner in a natal like position,
Looking up at the neon sign through the window,
Nettled by the buzz caused an imposition.
He’d been the traveling type, nomadic in a sense,
Those that find a niche in journeys that don’t end,
From the time he lost at sea aboard the Nautilus,
Dreaming of nymphs and sirens and all his play pretend.
He traveled from the northern hemisphere to the south,
He even stayed in a nunnery a long time ago,
But in this cheap motel room he had settled,
All his world travels no he had nowhere else go.

I thank MadameLavender for having brainstormed this series of competitions based on the entire alphabet. It offers a thought-provoking challenge with each letter - and gives a participating poet inspiration while learning & using lesser-known words; building one’s vocabulary, that’s what it’s been doing for me!

And my thanks for all who voted, no matter which way - you all help make it happen.

See you back in the alphabet!
