Every Christmas tree
begs me to stand in its shade
to feel the light of love

Each one a portal
to the warmest place
filled with happy faces
heartfelt gestures
a place I've never been

Long bright ribbons I laughed –
a multitude of red poinsettia
and yuletide camellia
tumbled as love from my mouth

My bare heart, dipping into a hive
of sleeping bees – now drips
honeyed-Christmas memories
