Ambrosia

 
Sweet nectar of relaxation
Before I pour there’s trepidation
Internal talk of slippery slopes
Fear of judgement dashing hopes
leading to stealthy action

Pour quietly to avert detection
Casually contradict objection
Just a little bit, I say
The tension’s running high today
This will bring satisfaction

First sip gives desired reprieve
Loosening pressure I perceive
Anxieties about my folding
Seem like undeserved scolding
for such a minor infraction

The glass is gone, it doesn’t matter
Calm now instead of a mad hatter
I can just pour another one
Full-body buzz would sure be fun
In lieu of interaction

Another?  Sure - I feel alright
I could laugh or fuck or dance all night
Resistance is futile; keep it coming
Problems are gone and my mind is humming
Tomorrow I’ll regain traction
