Sorry I just assumed words like "I" and "the" don't count. Probably because that's how it is when I write college papers lol.

yea i saw yours and it was a little long. the entire poem can only have 25 words. maybe just try 24 words: divide into 3 lines with eight words each. whatever works for you, it doesn't matter.
