"Christians"
I have mostly experienced "Christians" that were more from a born again, or "new life" approach... in general my interpretation is that those folks have found a decent, calming, releasing, loving "vibe" that they call "jesus", so be it, not my aesthetic but I can dig that approach to personal peace

Im a Christian but I have put some thought into this "no way to the fathe but by me" thing

These two most admired of religious icons also claim to hold the completeness of their religions by themselves. It's interesting to note how alike each one spoke in the Bhagavad Gita and the Holy Bible about the righteous way of life.
Lord Krishna says in the Gita: "Whenever, O Arjuna, righteousness declines and unrighteousness prevails, my body assumes human form and lives as a human being." He also says, "In order to protect the righteousness and also to punish the wicked, I incarnate myself on this earth from time to time." Similarly, Jesus said: "If God were your Father, ye would love me; for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of Myself but He sent me."
At many places in the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna said about His oneness with God: "I am the way, come to Me…Neither the multitude of gods, nor great sages know my origin, for I am the source of all the gods and great sages." In the Holy Bible, Jesus also utters the same in his Gospels: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well…"
Krishna advises all men to continue working for the welfare of the state all through the life: "That man attains peace who lives devoid of longing, free from all desires and without the feeling of 'I' and 'mine'. This is the Brahman state…" Jesus too ensures man, "Him that overcometh 'I' will make a pillar in the temple of my God and he shall go no more out."
Lord Krishna urged his disciples to follow the art of scientific control of the senses. An expert yogi can withdraw his mind from old temptations of the material world and can unite his mental energy with the joy of inner ecstasy or samadhi. "When the yogi like a tortoise withdrawing its limbs, can fully retire its senses from the objects of perception, his wisdom manifests steadiness". Christ too delivered a similar directive: "But though, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thy shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."
Krishna stressed the idea of the grace of God in the Gita: "I am the origin of everything, and everything arises out of Me…". Similarly, Jesus said: "I am the bread of life; he that cometh to me shall never hunger and he that believeth in me shall never thirst."
I believe they are both right and that if you are following one you are following the other. God sends his messengers to diferent places on earth at different times to tell us all the same thing and to show us how to get back to our God consciousness. I hope this was of help

What I don't understand is every culture has it's own belief system, and a lot of those go to war to defend it. Why? Are they that insecure that it takes a rifle to prove they practice the "true" religion? Nobody seems to get the peace and love part. So a while back I chose to be "spiritual" instead of Christian or Buddhist or whatever.
I simply believe all practices are striving to find the same path - but semantics and narrow minded thinking screwed it up.

The way that I was raised and the way that I lean are two completely different things. Raised in a very, very strict christian home and going to an Adventist boarding academy made me want to see what else was out there because the christian lifestyle was just not for me. My name is Madison and I am bisexual. Being raised to believe that this is wrong, I have not told anybody in my family about it because I know for a fact that they would reject me in a heartbeat.
Religion is a very debatable topic lol. This is going to seem confusing and you may think I'm stupid, but there are different types of Christianity. Well not different but because we are different people with different beliefs, people make the religion weird. I'm a Christian myself and it still confuses me. There is a God and Bible is proof to it. You many think I'm ignorant but I have no other way of explaining it. When it comes to Christianity, there are people who are 'law' and people of 'grace'. If you know the Bible, the old testament is 'law' and the new testament is 'grace'. People who are all law, still believe that God punishes and there are certain rules that must be followed, and it's not true. We live under grace and because of grace, God forgives us and loves us and does NOT punish. You could kill thousands of people and God will still love/forgive you. Yes I know that sounds crazy but it's true. Now about gay marriage and what not, Christians don't hate gay people, we hate the sin. There's a difference. God never created it to be man with man and woman with woman. It's a sin. But we still love them because we know that the devil is attacking them. Now, people of law may tell you that you're going to hell and what not but that's not true. Believe it or not, the devil can use us to tell people all these lies. It's what he does. You may not believe in everything that I'm telling you but I don't know how else to prove it. All I know for sure is that God loves us all even when we doubt Him. And he doesn't punish anyone. in order to be saved, we simply have to repent before him. I don't know I hope this helped. I'm not judging anyone on their beliefs so please don't judge me.

I do agree completely with Cinthamaynee...She knows what she is saying. In addition, there's a danger when we modify God's purpose. WBC does set a WRONGFUL example of Christianity. They are "hate crime" organization disguised as a "church/christian" organization. (I've had my severe objections and charges against them as well).
When God hand-crafted and designed us, He did so with PURPOSE. We are no "consequence" or the "aftermath" of two couples having marital affairs. You were designed by God with PURPOSE! If God made you a MALE, it's because He has a plan for your life that would REQUIRE you to be a MALE (and vice-versa). When we 'modify' God's purpose, we short-change ourselves to our own dismay and disadvantage.
However, NO ONE can judge ANYONE and God does NOT need ANYONE to "advocate" for Him or His behalf, though we CAN share our faith with others. There is an order and God is ALL about "order"...and "order" is "The Law!" To re-modify "The Law" brings "DIS-order."
History of the Disorder: The Lord created the..earth which was WITHOUT form, darkness covered it, and it was empty!" God, as the Founder of Order, brought ORDER to the earth...establishing "LAW" upon the earth: Created light by the Law of His Word, "Let there be light!" He made land and separated land from water. He established LAW upon the water NOT to surpass a certain boundary to diversify waters from land.
In the same manner: God's Law brings "order." Men w/Men and Women w/Women violates "The Law of Order" God originally established. Therefore, before God's eyes, our Creator and Maker, Designer and Hand-Crafter, we live in DISORDER! As one who appreciates (or once did appreciate) LIFE and LIVING, we should MAINTAIN the "order" God established as a "tributed-praise" of gratitude due to Him for Him granting us a chance to live, move, and be who we are. When we live "the law" God established (and within its boundaries)), there is a CLEAN and FRESH feeling we develop that causes us to feel and live the FREEDOM God intended us to maintain. However, living "outside" God's established laws, brings that doom, gloomy, dark, sluggish, and eerie feeling as one who lives in a "hoarded house." It's just BEST (for our own sake - in EVERY which way) to keep God's established Law and within its boundaries. There's MUCH freedom to benefit from when we do. It's like coloring a Coloring Page...You have ALL the freedom in the world to color within the lines. But, once you "bypass" or "cross" the line of the graphic you're coloring, it's a DISORDERED page...not "pretty" to see or take notice.
Does God exist? God's existence is NOT at stake because you choose NOT to believe. He's NOT affected at all, whether you believe or you don't believe. Whatever you choose. However, the question lingers: How was the earth created and by who - in a land before time? Where did the very FIRST tree-seed come from? The only one affected by NOT believing in God is the ONE who does NOT believe in God because then, there's only a VOID and EMPTY feeling that lies within the life and soul of the unbeliever - as 'something' is missing in their life...regardless how financially prosperous one may be, how many prosperous achievements and successes they've merited, how abundantly-exciting they've led their lives!
God is Love...the very ESSENCE of LOVE, (not a metaphor). So, if you have EVER believed in LOVE in its purest form, whether unconditionally loving someone in your life or being loved by someone, you do have proof God exists! God is love personified! Love and Hate CANNOT co-exist! Hate is COLD; Love is a CONSUMING FIRE....Hate would BLOW-OUT (extinguish) love...Hate would make Love conditional!
So, WBC is a MIS-representation of Christianity....(advocating for God with their statements: God HATES Fags...etc) and a perfect exhibited presentation of what a "HATE CRIME" organization - disguised as a "Christian Denomination" Organization, such as the Kux Kux Klang (KKK) Organization.
As the Son of God once declared at one time over another matter brought to His attention: WHOEVER is free of ANY existing sin, CAST the FIRST stone" is rightfully fitting for WBC...
Now, people living "alternative" styles may find themselves confined to "restrictions" and "limitations" when desiring to participate in Christian denominational churches of their choice. However, to say that God HATES the sin, as Cynthiamaynee stated is quite on target!
Love is FAITHFUL! Living faithfully is being TRUE to self! God is ALL Truth! Look at the DEEP MESS we get ourselves into when we say a "small fib" or "straight-up lie." We need to attract a thousand more "lies" just to keep that "first lie." God is Love. Faithfulness derives from being TRUE! So, living "outside the established law of God," which the Bible and we call and know as "sin," is LIVING and PRACTICING a LIE!
If you're a MALE...BE a MALE....If you're a FEMALE...be a FEMALE. Stay TRUE to SELF....If you cannot be TRUE TO SELF, how can you be TRUE to others? If one believes one CANNOT be true to SELF nor to others, then how can one expect to receive the abundance of blessed rewards from an ALL-TRUTHFUL and ETERNALLY FAITHFUL God?
ALL sins....(lies, murder, slander, covetousness, jealousy, strife, pride, theft, etc) are LIES.....God HATES lies is what SHOULD BE the message proclaimed!
