Who Knows...

Who knows the names of his land now
of when Neanderthaler roamed,
the tracks, the trails, the beasts tracked down,
the hills, the lakes, he knew as home,
the fondness for the place he'd grown,
or even how great his delight
from hunt's return, perhaps alone,
he sights his families fire light.

We'll never know when bull or sow
was slain for food was respect shown,
I'd like to think, believe, somehow,
that they had a great sacred stone
to give the beast a-swift-death groan
before feasting throughout their night
telling, before the beast was prone,
how brave it fought, with such great might.

We'll never know if, with calm brow
as all around bright insects droned,
through glow of coals of burning boughs
as lips sucked sweet, sweet, honeycombs
and teeth cracked through great marrow bones
did they ponder on the moon's pale light
and contemplate the life they owned
as owl's whoo whoo through their long night?

Sasha Wore a Red Dress

She drove to the shore
(couldn’t take anymore)
wore her best
flowing red dress

She said:

“I’ll close my eyes
fly up to the skies
may never return
it’s all gonna burn
all day and all night—

Now it’s my turn
to run away.

What price can I pay
to live for the day?

Just killing time
until I can find
some feeling inside
for feeling alive.”

The tide flowed in
pulled back again
around and around
a soothing sound

She never made it
out of the flow
wade in deeper--
(wade in deeper)
 “How far can I go”

“Oh so grand”

(Take the sea’s hand)
“Come inside
come inside—
let’s fly”

“It’s so right”
Gone in the night
out of sight
out of sight

Dream unfolded

From that corner you can see the house
Anchored to the dogs in the sun (dormant)

As if the river no longer had teeth
Absorbed in his thoughts
Silent as barked birch trees
Still floating in a volatile stillness

Once the war is lost, we have to hold on to the air
Write the laws in washed stone
Repeat the litany of saints (dormant)
Treating everything like there is no tomorrow
Again and again, and once again

Leave the wings against the wall
Hear the wind pass and carry the feathers

Rhyming river with house and living with the fish
Ignore others that you can't see
Sort moments by letters (dormant)

Repeat the last movements on the floor
Open your lips and let the sounds in
Sacrificing the goat and the gods (dormant)
Offer the blood turned into water.

Hiker's Untold Tale

hikers glee to see nature
at its very best scenery
serene and tranquil the jungle
except for calls of birds

he wandered deeply delighted
when he saw a cottage in the meadow
so beautifully quaint he gasped
with admiration of its picturesque

flowers surrounded the cottage
leafy plants so colourful
he knocked at the door
and a voice answered

"come in my dear and stay for a while
come in, join me as I'm just having tea
do come in, young man I like your style
but can you tell me the month and year'

He was surprised but answered her
"the year is July of twenty twenty-four
I don't know the minutes by the hour
but I am sure its half-past four"

he looked down at a jolly old woman
so tubby she looked like a teapot
her eyes sparkling  in welcome
he smiled smelling tea and crumpets

"don't stand outside  tea is getting cold
my kitchen is warm and there is bread
nice and tasty with a little marmalade
although I'd have loved a little lard"

"I don't mind to stay a while
I must say I am a tad weary
climbing and hiking many trails
indeed I would like a cup of tea"

he followed her inside
"sit down dear lad
enjoy a quiet stay rest awhile
when tired, there's your pillow and bed'

they searched for him
for three weeks and a day
but they never found a trace or hint
of how he vanished into the night

The Night

The night,she draws me in.
With her glowing stars and beauty.
With the darkness,dark but beautiful.

With critters hidden within the night.
Living behind the shadows, and eating the fruit from the magical tree of life.
And living off the lake, full of sparkly water.

With the stars reflecting on top of it.
Like a magic lost long ago.
A star,that will always glow.

As the one star that shines brightest, falls into the land.
And you extend to it your hand.
Making your once in a lifetime wish.

But use it wisely,as it will perish.
The rules may be simple.
No wishing for the dead to revive.

But maybe wishing for your burning love to survive.
No wishing you were different.
Because you are great just the way you are.

Even if you live in a land that's very far.
We will meet someday.
In person or not.

For I am the night.
And I often cause fright.
But I am not evil.

No,I am kind.
And I am the safest place to cry you can find.
I will not judge you.

I will wipe the tears you wept.
And I will bring you peace as you slept.
With my magical sounds of nature.

With the calmness of the quiet night.
As the stars sparkle through the night.
Like a nightlight far away.

Glowing, beautiful white orbs in the night sky.
Watching you with imaginary eyes from afar.
As you wonder, ""Is there life far away?"".

And the stars never decay.
The wolves howl at the moonlight as they obey.
Together in a pack,or single and alone.

For I am the night, where you and me belong.

Vanished into the Night

The moonlight spills like silver tears,
Tears of a love that vanished in fear,
In whispers soft, through moonlit beams,
A melody mourning in forgotten dreams,
Our laughter, once a symphony, now a sigh,
Two souls adrift beneath a pale, moonlit sky,
Secrets shared in whispered tales,
Now echoes in the shadows that fail,
Hand in hand, we danced on stardust's gleam,
A timeless waltz, in an ethereal dream,
Eyes met, gazes locked in a starlit stare,
A love story written in the cosmic air,
But shadows crept, whispers turned to screams,
Fate's cruel hand, a treacherous seam,
Torn apart like fabric spun to gold,
The melody of love is now a sombre ode,
Vanished into the night, under pale moons,
An empty shell, in forgotten tunes,
In this silence, a haunting refrain,
A love unfinished, whispering pain,
Yet, through the tears, a flicker gleams,
An unyielding flame, in a silent dream,
For love endures beyond death's embrace,
A timeless flame, in an endless chase,
So let us remember, in the lonely night,
The love that echoes in the fading light,
Though vanished into the shadows' embrace,
Their love remains a precious trace.

tonight

tonight the stars twinkle no more
as my moon bleeds down the sky
there's no thing left fighting for
no thing to wipe my eyes dry

the lurking darkness inside
spread its hollow limbs all over
a heart that relentlessly sighed
beseeching some closure

tonight I disappear
into the thin air
tonight I fear
no more the flare
of dread and pain

tonight desolation is my friend
silently pacing by my side
until I find my endless end
with my broken pieces collide

tonight I disappear
into the thin air
tonight I fear
no more the flare
of dread and pain
I'm drained
