Beneath The Mexican Moonlight

I recall the warm night beneath the Mexican moonlight.
It was there I lost my beautiful Spanish maiden.
We had planned to meet at the café earlier that evening,
But something went awfully wrong with our plan.
She might have had some other important engagement.
I was in love with her and so anxious to be with her.
It was almost midnight and there was still no sign of Maria,
So I left the cafeteria in sadness and headed for home.

Suddenly I heard the soft strumming of guitars,
And the song that was playing invigorated my heart.
I walked along the path in the light of the Spanish moon,
And I saw Maria dancing with a man on the bridge.
Her misleading eyes were captivating as the stars.
He was standing in front of her, gently stroking her face,
And then she kissed him just as she used to kiss me.
I could almost taste the sweetness of her tender lips.

I froze for a moment and my throbbing heart sank.
I hid carefully behind the oak tree so they could not see me.
I watched in astonishment while she flirted with him.
And I stayed there until she theatrically gave him her heart.
She left me standing there alone in the darkness.
The sound of Spanish music echoed deep in the valley.
How could I ever forget the painful experience I had?
I lost Maria to a dreamer beneath the Mexican moonlight.

Blue Heart

Blue was the colour of her evening dress.
Dark and beautiful were her eyes.
When she left me that night, I knew I would regret it.
And I knew I would have a blue heart.
She trusted me with her love.
And I should have done all I could to protect it.
But instead, I betrayed her trust.

She caught me in close contact with another girl.
Kisses so warm and sweet the dim porch lights had revealed.
The sight of it devastated her.
And her poor heart pounded.
The pain that she felt was too much to suppress.
It brought sadness to her heart.
And I knew she would never forgive me.

She stood there in shock and maintained her silence.
Then she turned her head away and cried.
I couldn’t bear to see her so hurt.
I tried to console her, but she wouldn’t allow it.
She just pushed me away.
And the tears that fell from her eyes will convict
my conscience forever.

You couldn’t imagine how I felt when I saw the woman
that I loved walking away.
Every time I think about it, I just feel like dying.
And I know what’s missing from my heart is her love.
I had everything that a man could possibly desire.
Now I have nothing but emptiness.
It left me with a blue heart, and I’m so lonely.

Amorous Cyanide

With a passion for "Amorous Cyanide,"
An erotic perfume of blossoms,
Silently rising from a ghost,
Of the woman I wed.

Where have the twilights gone?
From your hair of golden tint,
And your eyes of amethyst,
Of autumn leaves, turning red.

With a silhouette of nightshade,
In your nakedness, as I cry,
So swiftly the hours have passed,
With a vision, I can't touch.

A whispering of eternal love,
An erotic perfume of blossoms,
As a hint of macabre runs deep,
In shadows of my boudoir keep.

Cherche le fantôme, look for the ghost,
Beneath my pillow of down,
Of autumn leaves, turning red,
With a passion for "Amorous Cyanide."

Is/Was

Put it all back in
the backpack and
stuff it

You say you wanna fix it
But you weren't the one
who broke it
baby

You say you want to make this
worth it but
you know
it never does

Stack the chips on the table like it
fixed it all up
(That sucks)

Got my prod gun back but it's
eating at my guts
And its shooting
down my back
My neck bent
To a curve

We used to say 'it is',
Well -
now it just
was
