Pillow Tales

Look, look...
once upon a time
your head resting
in the lap of the loved one
almost white
almost beautiful
your sleeping head
over the lap of snow
of your loved one!

Look, look!
your uncovered face
in the mirror
between wefts
there would be no greater beauty
without the shoes
running away from prom?

Look, look?
what no one else saw
what has never been seen
got lost in my woods
got lost in myself
wolf bitten apple (hunters where?)
person and beast!

your sleeping body
your prince charming
your mouth half open
kiss that's late
kiss that stuns
kiss that falls asleep
on the lips

Look, look and see...
what is not written
in the genetic code... (Since grandma)

Ha-Ha Ever After

"Where's a fairy godmother when you need financial assistance?"
-- Cinderella with a palatial-sized walk-in closet of countless glass slippers
to be pawned

*

When forced to put the palace up for sale
to Cinderella's fantasy offset,
Prince Charming thought it best to save his tale
to yet the kingdom to his in-laws let --
though loaned he not the pumpkin coach or jet,
each having once again been repossessed,
or still his stallion lost yet in a bet,
his jester having staked it in a jest --
while Cindy having lately been hard-pressed
on being jailed a princess sans a clue,
no longer tracked or under house arrest,
agreed to bid Romance a quick adieu --
so moved the pair into an outhouse trim
across a ha-ha from the Brothers Grimm.

*

a dedication of Respect
for
the Painful Reality of the existence of mothers-in-law

a revolving helios sonnet spenserian satire menippean on
the happily ever after ending
prior to impotence

july, 2023 -- yet volumes of Cindys each midnight
turning into pumpkins
with headaches

Assuming the risk

There she was, quite asleep
What a beauty
A  few brave ones dared go near
But never toooo near
For her breath stank like a sewer tank

Not even the offered pot of gold
Would entice anyone to go for the kiss
Until the unwelcome miserly Jean
Used a Vic-vaporub like substance
Under his nose, gently kissed
And thus got the girl and the gold.

Martian Chronicle

yo in the mars hood where red sand be creepin
astronaut amelia had a dope dream leapin
a story bout promise secrets kept in the deep
turnin red wasteland to green in a sweep

amelias skills were lit she mined that martian gold
but life threw shade left her mission cold
her rig went kaput a real buzzkill scene
her heart went dark like a crow so mean

then a  rolled up sly as can be
a martian cat with eyes all flashy and free
"yo ill fix your rig" he grinned with might
"but a price gotta be paid to keep it tight"

"your first plant-born neath mars red beam
thats the deal girl a bond supreme"

cosmic groove the deal was laid down
to get that treasure a price no clown
a mars bargain neon lights did blaze
stars watched on no judgement in their gaze

amelia's like "sure thing let's roll the dice
with rumpelstiltskin's help ain't no need to think twice"
mined up a storm biodome bloom with grace
but later her heart sank like a slow-paced race

rumpelstiltskin returned eyes all on the prize
that plant's lush birth martian paradise
one little plant mars heartbeat right there
a choice like a maze in the martian air

but crew swooped in words like a spell
together they talked made the martian sprite swell
"the plant's the key our future's delight
we roll as one in mars crimson light"

rumpelstiltskin hesitated the bond so strong
future's weight in the balance not wrong
he gave in with a bittersweet grin
a future secured a new life begin

mars embraced plant's roots took hold
mankind's spirit untamed and bold
a saga told in the stars grand design
sacrifice and dreams entwined just fine

so ends the mars tale a cosmic bond
rumpelstiltskin and amelia fond and beyond
in martian winds their legend takes flight
a testament to unity shining so bright

Modern Love's Tale

Once upon a hashtag's gleam,
In the land of Wi-Fi, where dreams convene,
Lived a princess, tech-savvy and free,
Her kingdom was the realm of social spree.

No glass slippers for this modern dame,
She rocked her sneakers, unashamed,
With a smartphone as her magic wand,
Her selfies enchanted a far-off beyond.

But in the realm of virtual grace,
A prince emerged from cyberspace,
In search of love, a heart that's true,
He swiped right and found her, his love anew.

Together they explored the digital domain,
Through memes and gifs, their love did gain,
Emoji kisses and virtual hugs,
In a world where avatars exchanged tugs.

Yet, amid the likes and retweets' cheer,
Their hearts yearned for something clear,
Beyond the screens, a deeper connection,
To bridge the gap between affection.

They embarked on a quest, hand in hand,
To find a love that could withstand,
The trials of real-world emotion,
Unfiltered love, a genuine potion.

In a forest of doubt, they faced their fears,
Unplugged from the noise, they dried their tears,
For in silence, they discovered anew,
The magic of love, both real and true.

No more emojis, just tender embrace,
No more filters, just their genuine face,
They found their happy ever after,
Beyond the virtual, a love to treasure.

Memes of Broken Dreams

Social Media, Social Media, every one and all
Tell me how to get more followers on my wall
I want everyone to like me with every post and tweet
I want them to worship me though we’ll never really meet

Tell me which pic to pick or which way I should pose
And with every caption, what should I compose?
I wish to be the most cool and popular of the land
I’d love to have a life that’s rich, extravagant and grand

Should I post photos of my feet or my hairy derriere?
Will they fall for my arms, my chest, my lips, my stare?
Will they fantasize whenever they look into my eyes?
Tell me how do I get my numbers up, how do I advertise?

But social media answers with the more popular profiles
With good looking people having the brighter smiles
The beautiful, the stunning seem to be live a life so chic
Now my ego feels like memes of broken dreams, fragile and weak
