Vacation time
Poetry Contest Description
Shall you go to your cabin in the woods? Shall you go the end of the earth? Shall you go to the moon? Or stay closer and simply stay home and visit your inner self?
Poems to 50 lines or so preferred.....but up to 100 lines ok. No more. No free verse allowed.
Journey Within
My dear friend, the answer lies not in the destination,
But in the journey that leads to revelation.
Shall I go to my cabin in the woods,
And breathe in the fresh air of the neighborhood?
Or shall I go to the end of the earth,
Where the vastness of the ocean stretches forth?
Perhaps I'll go to the moon,
And see the world from a different tune.
But maybe, just maybe,
The answer lies within me.
The soul is a vast universe to explore,
A journey that requires no passport nor lore.
To sit and visit my inner self,
Is to embark on a journey that brings wealth.
For the heart knows no bounds,
And in solitude, it speaks profound.
To listen to the whispers of the soul,
Is to find the missing pieces that make us whole.
So, my dear friend, I shall not roam,
To the woods, the earth's end, nor the unknown.
But instead, I'll stay right where I am,
And discover the beauty that lies within.
For the world may be grand,
But the soul is where the true treasures stand.
And in the depths of my inner being,
I'll find the answers that leave me seeing.

Vacation time
I wish I could go on vacation solo
But my heavy luggage is always there
And just won't let go
All this internal baggage
Which, like it or not
You must find a way to manage
No matter how far away
I wish to escape
No matter how happy to be
I can fake
The past sticks like glue
A big flipping I.O.U.
Still, I will go to Italy
And, for a few days
Try to go for a bit of diversity.
