We only need two words (competition entry)
We only need two words:
yes/no, one/zero, take your pick.
As long as they are opposites,
We can make the logic stick.
From this we can construct all knowledge,
Whether ideas or arithmetic.
We could construct all music or art,
Including those precious family pics.
And we could delete what we don’t need,
The falsehoods of politics.

Simple Ernest
Hemingway used small words to say big things
For some educated poets that's a bite that stings
You didn't need a dictionary or a point of origin to understand
Still his writing could take you to far off lands
He wrote about simple people fighting against the odds
Whether it be about a boat, a fish, a bull, or even the Gods
It's not about who can have the most ten dollar words
It's about whose writing separates the writer from the herd

Comment ( on Jack Kerouac's mission for simplicity)
A legacy walks abroad, with ghostly steps
the inspirations marathon, that runs, not by rule of thumb
that leaves you feeling so inept,
when brevity, its beauty ever shunned
For lesser is the greatest gift,
the cutting edge
stinging repost, that sticks the lips
grasp for diamonds glitter, amongst the dregs
Complexity and prevarication, so you wed
that bitch, ever needed to be fed
written, the slim beauty, the need of whence
the mistress you should take to bed

Flowers, Chairs and Bedsprings
Dusting adagio from
These guitar strings,
Strayed verbs strum
Colours from Weltschmerz.
Evening falls like vinyl into jukebox
Blue moon, you saw me standing alone,
By murknight, red-shred arc of naked prose
Is ready to haemorrhage my body.
House is a space of fingerprint and breath;
Words reside in empty bottles, cupboards,
Under floorboards & the kitchen sink.
We become orphanage for stanzas never written.
My washing line folds the edges of afternoon nap;
Shirts billow like forgotten ship sails,
A dead poet arrives in a dream:
“Write yourself to the beginning,
Margin walk, midnight drift towards the blood.”
Italicised lyrics. Blue Moon. Richard Rodgers / Lorenz Hart. 1934

A moment of simplicity
I turn, I strike
In a flawed choreography
But I make it mine
Each movement an expression
Of who I am
Unique
No input
No machines
Just me
And the next turn
In this I breathe
In this I live
It is
My choreography
In this I find
A moment of simplicity
In a flawed choreography
But I make it mine
Each movement an expression
Of who I am
Unique
No input
No machines
Just me
And the next turn
In this I breathe
In this I live
It is

Simplicity of Complexity
One day I say, I will brave the storm and find the right words.
One day, those words will brave intricacy and just be simple.
One day if I may, make an incision on swollen complexity and let it bleed out.
One day, I will let go and let my words flow like a river.
