Salvation's Dulcet Strains (a Villanelle)
When lonely, confused, disquieted, music speaks to me.
Plants melodies in my head that flourish, calming dread.
Happy am I by virtue of its comforting constancy.
It was song that held my hand passing through griefs, dark, deep valley.
Making heavy heart light, will to leave depression’s bed.
When lonely, confused, disquieted, music speaks to me.
My vast brain discography suits my mood-color panoply.
Carole King, Beatles tunes, first in my mind to embed.
Happy am I by virtue of its comforting constancy.
Grieg’s “Peer Gynt Suite,” introduced me to classical ecstasy.
by the first movement I was to heaven transported.
When lonely, confused, disquieted, music speaks to me.
Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Freebird” filled me with drug-free vitality.
Pavarotti’s voice was a singer’s peak summited.
Happy am I by virtue of its comforting constancy.
My life saved by divine vibrations of endless variety.
True friend, source of infinite smiles and many tears shed.
