The Real G
Ruth was an icon, she was the real G
Bader was crusader for women’s rights
Ginsburg fought for justice and equality
Taking on battles, shining a bright light
She was a rockstar when she’d disagree
Flexing muscle - just check out her arm curls
And her dissents were very legendary
Schooling you till you clutched your pearls
Her influence enhanced our society
I think she was a badass in retrospect
Don’t believe me, read up on herstory
She truly deserves some mad respect
R.I.P. Dear Notorious R.B.G.
You are a hero and a champion all the way
You created an incredible and lasting legacy
We celebrate you on International Woman’s Day

Faithmairee: Proud To Be A Woman
Hi, Faith! Thank you for your entry. Bravo on your perspective. I loved that despite what anyone else may offer you in regards to your worth, knowing the value of yourself is enough. This indicates the independence of your spirit! While tributes in forms of notes, poetry, and praise are all very lovely to hear and receive; it is your belief and how far you come that is the determining factor in your worth.
This was fiercely independent! Thank you for entering!
MaryWalker: The Fish Bitch Song
Hi, Mary! I LOVED your perspective as well. You are one proud lesbian and you go girl! As much as I love Johnny, I do hope that in a future lifetime you will get to emerge in the body you desire. I will always contest you are the twin he absorbed.
As for your poem, it was spot on proud of who you are despite what any man would think or how they would judge you. I loved the clever play on words and ocean metaphors.
Swim on, girlfriend, and congratulations on your placement.
Razzerleaf: Burn the house down
Nice to see a man honoring women! I really enjoyed this perspective, particularly how many men do perceive women as the weaker sex, i.e. - expect you need to be led, et al. Strength is defined in many various ways; and it's not just the physical attributes which determines such.
The flip from docile to dominant through the power of her voice vs physique was a wonderful twist! There is something about a woman's voice that can not only be fearless but commanding as well. It can definitely send a shiver down the spine of the strongest of men, while reducing him to a puddle of mush!
Well done!
RiAN: Woman
You had me at moon tribe! LOL! Seriously! I love the spiritual depth of this poem: rib and bone/wise and wild. . .
The alliteration in that latter combination is wonderful. Contoured embroidery! Floating womb! The corset of my gender! Anima mundi ( omg! I haven't heard that phrase in a bit ).
It just goes on. . .and on. . .it's fluid and indeed does voice the voids of our ancestors, strong women: "May We Know Them, May We Be Them, May We Raise Them."
Congratulations on your win with such a deserving profession of womanhood from her inception.
Anna_grin: bitter herbs
This was a very sobering write and I feel an expression of a part of womanhood that is not often portrayed nor celebrated as necessary. The emotional punch was palpable.
The imagery and metaphors are stark and adequately portray not only the process but the emotional involvement. There are times in life that we disassociate from reality in order to save ourselves; I feel this was such a time.
It took me a bit to get over the emotional impact of this when I first read it. No; it's not the celebratory tone I expected; however it's a testament to the power of women to survive.
Thank you for entering and congratulations on your placement.
RiAN: I am crone
This one dropped like a minute through a lifetime! I loved what the imagery evoked! Again, your language: volva/vulva, lyre of lucifer, ovulating orbits, silver streaks! All wonderful examples of perfect alliteration!
Maybe it's because I am the crone that I related to this one so much; but, I absolutely loved it. It's effortless and light as a feather with a very heavy presence of wisdom!
Thank you for this second entry. I always enjoy your unique perspective and magic with words.
Insiderew: Sonnet to, No!
A sonnet! This was fun and straight down the line as far as your law! What I enjoyed about this was how it expressed YOUR desires! Historically women have been chattel—something to own and use at will for pleasure ( or a punching bag ); to sell or exchange for peace between countries. Of course we've come a long way, and one of those ways is to draw the line and set the boundary on what WE want to enjoy from a sexual encounter!
It made me smile and nod! Well done and thank you for entering.
Insiderew: Just A Man
As a mother and nana, I applaud this concept! Men do indeed have their own plethora of issues in today's world. While it has historically been a man's world, and men historically have felt in such control that their actions went unchecked; the times they have changed, my friend. It's almost to the point that men cannot innocently flirt or pursue a women without fear of being called a sexist or stalker. Of course there's a line which determines each, and that line is intent. However, intent cannot be proven in a court of law.
I often wonder how much different things would be if men were allowed to follow their honorable intentions vs refrain from lack of accusation and prosecution.
It's true that just as we must teach our daughters to be fearless warriors, we must also teach our sons to embrace their feminine balance.
Thank you for this perspective and second entry.
Cloventongue90: Ice and Roses
As one who has lost their mother, I can fully relate to this entry. It's filled with a deep resonance of absence throughout your spirit, as though a part of you has died with her. And, in many respect, or, from my own experience, a part of us indeed does go with them; however, just as true as that may be, a part of them also lives on with us—thus is the cycle complete.
I love that you honor your mother ( and subsequently wife ) with who you have become today with such genuine professions of gratitude. Let Love mend our souls indeed.
Thank you for this heartfelt entry.

Rock on, Ginsburg! You left no stone unturned when penning this tribute, Wally. She was fierce and yet compassionate; she was dedicated and yet flexible; she was steadfast and unwavering in her convictions. This has an unyielding power to its essence; and she truly was a heroine for the cause of women.
Thank you for a wonderful tribute!
wilberfloss: Woman
Ha! This is a true testament to how powerful minimalistic poetry can be!
Thank you for your entry! It was like the final nail in the coffin!
