Let The Years Fears Be Erased

( Jesus ) Christ !

Mass Flack Attack

Nuts On The Street , Guns They Pack

People Zipped Up In A Body Bag Sack

Money Scraps Cash They Lack

Governmental Major Computer Hack

Trump Claims He Will Refuse To Pack

Minds Are Warped , Brains Are Wracked

This Christmas Is A Knick Knack Paddy Whack

Christmas Looks Like Courage This Year

A lion in winter
with white lamb wool
stained feet and belly
with the grapes of wrath

A tattered treelike
symbol packed with
gifts for survivors
stolen from grinches

It has plenty of shoulders
to cry on
after your car is stuck
in the snow

In darkness
burst of light

This Christmas We're Hunkering Down

In the season of giving we have been missing
On being close to the ones we love
But in these times of affliction
Technology has connected the world

From zoom meetings to facetime chats
Computers have helped along the way
Because this Christmas we’re hunkering down
Waiting for sunnier days

The Empty Chair ( for Amy & all who have lost someone )

Christmas is an empty chair
donning a dining table
during holiday—

Condolences haunt
as words, until meaning
fumbles between our lips

We flail at half-loss
as razor blades, slicing
inadequacy apart

Yet, offer them regardless
to salvage the wreckage
of our helplessness

Praying our brave dearth
proves comfort enough

Christmas Day
uncertainty hangs
over garland
and tinsel

Gift-wrapped confidence, drought stricken,
peels ribbons, frayed edges
stepped on, stepped over, by carolers
who sing, in fake merriment.

Mothers and daughters stock canned goods,
in silence they listen
as the book of Revelation plays
on tape, filling
their heads with
fear .

Christ,  was born,
worshipped,

Confusion builds
a pedestal, where
the one called
Christ, Jesus was placed.

Turn your heads
to  the horizon
in colors of  reds
and yellows,
hear
a joyful uprising
as it speaks
to your hearts

Together,
share your wisdom,
meditate on what's new
An awakening moves
in with words of love and acceptance
transcend into a new beginning.

Perception controls  human thought

Hanging limp

Missing the weight of that ebullience
the cracker lost its vital snap
conversation and its resonance
a paper crown the jokes fall flat

Merriment's lost echo, on the empty street
celebration locked in dull captivity
lack's the Ho-Ho-Ho and the joie of vivre
watch out next year, and my reprieve

Thank you for your entries it was very hard to choose
BlackWolf
Your entry captured the Christmas season as I saw and felt this year
Your choice of words and imagery were spot on
Thank you and Congratulations

Ahavati
Your entry was painfully real such beauty and caring was gleaned from this piece
The difficult yet meaningful experience for so many families this year will carry on for many more Christmases to come
May theses families  be blessed.

WallyRoo
Thank you for your entry
The heartfelt realism of this poem was in a way comforting to know how we feel so similar and are unable to express ourselves
You have allowed us to feel your thoughts
Thank you

Congratulations to the winners
And an extra special thank you to EdibleWords and Slipalong for participating

Peace Dhyana
