Parrhesia is borrowed from a Greek word that means “to speak boldly, freely, or with bombastic bluntness.” It is saying something boldly and freely without leaving any doubt behind. It involves not only the freedom of speech, but also implies the use of truth in speech or writing. In Parrhesia, writers open their minds and hearts fully to the readers or audience through discourse, and a speaker makes it clear what his opinion is. In simple words, it is a direct expression shown through words.
Of course, in ancient times, before we could all curse each other annonymously via the "internet"...one would speak face to face...you would have to accept the consequences of your words...with "parrhesia" came great personal responsibility...in todays tech world cowardice is all one needs...thus often in our post-modern world, parrhesia is simply bullying...not sure if many would stand on a soap-box anymore. In the end, "free-speech" always has a price that must be paid...ask those killed for drawing cartoons of "prophets".
Cheers...Harry

Drone, posting video titles everywhere, especially multiple times, is SPAM. It gets reported and removed. Feel free to clutter up your own threads with it.
SPAM is just another example of posting that propels threads into early graves, which apparently is only taken seriously and removed by the more dedicated of moderators.
It's removal is not censorship, nor is the reporting of it intolerant.

Here is how I view how forums work or don't work. 2 years of experience on the wrong side of censorship It is certainly something that I have issues with. The mode have a very difficult job as it is. They get accused of all sorts yet most Mods (not all) seem to want to keep the peace and for certain people that might be necessary. In my experience it sometimes is misplaced and there are certain people that seem protected from on high from punishment for breaking DU guidelines. Protected to abuse people on a regular basis even at the expense of losing members.
Some people are not given real credit for doing things positively for the site so where is the incentive, justice and fairness are not always high on the agenda. So your choice is to put up and shut up or leave. That is the experience of many members and ex-members yet a select few can virtually act with impunity. This and other threads currently would seem to be bathing in irony without people realising it.
"DU is all about the poetry!" I hear this by quite a few people who are regularly the very source of discord and drama. Theses same people who rail against censorship are actively complaining about other members and having them censored, usually for no real sin that disagreeing with them. What is clear is that the forums have constantly been the main source of bullying, abuse, hatred and drama. In fact, it appears to be a section where flaming and abuse are being tolerated.
So what's the point I am trying to make. The death of the forums was once intimated, replacing these with organised groups where rules were set out leaving people in no doubt what would be tolerated or not. They then have a real choice.
So let's lessen the moderator's workload dealing with bullshit and drama, let's lessen the chance of abuse and bullying even taking place.
"LET'S ABOLISH THE FORUMS SECTION!"
If anyone wants to put the work in to form and run a group for poetry based information and ideas then they can simply step up to the plate.
This for me should be the future of the site and if it doesn't happen then the site will never change or get any better.
I have been considering my continued membership of DU and I know of quite a few that are also doing so as well. Now I know that my leaving DU is anything like a threat, and a threat it is not. I think I could leave DU without creating a ripple unless its a ripple of applause.
I now see that the "Abolition of the Forums" in favour of hard-working groups as the only way forward and purely an attempt to bring improvement and positivity to the site.
I am sure this comment will be reported and may well be taken down, but people who are all about poetry and inclusion will respond with other positive comments

Hell yes David
I would support you
You know how I feel about a handsome man in a kilt
I hear you loud and clear David
I am guilty, of sitting back quietly reading threads until I become so irked at the very things you have addressed
I spout off looking and sounding like those I rail against .
Then again, I may insert sharp projectile comments that lie just under the skin
Some threads are like a rash you try and ignore, you know irritation is ahead but you scratch anyway .
Like the onslaught of rubber neckers eyeing a train wreck knowing it's disastrous but just one more look might tell them just how bad it really is .
One more I'm such a glutten can't help myself
Hello my name is V and I'm a glutten
My poison is DU threads
( applause, whistles, cat calling) "Welcome home V" the crowd says in beautiful unison
I'm not new to these rooms, I've been through these doors before . One thing I can tell you is, a geographical will not work .
No matter where you go, there you are .
I am a glutten injecting sarcasm into DU threads is my drug of choice
"It's ok V you're home now."
When I was a newcomer I was told by a veteran that you don't go to the barbershop unless you want a haircut
Meaning, why would I stop by to READ a thread, and expect to not comment, eventually it will happen
One day at a time David
It works if you work it, it won't if you don't
Keep coming back

It seems the people who keep claiming that certain threads or the entire forum is degrading into a fascist state where they aren't allowed to express opinions have yet to make an appearance here.
Or maybe they've changed their minds and are busy at work crafting their manifestos that will launch the very topics they've railed about being denied discussing.
I guess we wait until they've had their say and kill the time with ... whatever.
It is a free forum after all.

This, is why I agreed with David
the haughty attitudes displayed
by the both of you,
Immediately on the attack
pointing fingers at others while you, remain blameless
There is an unhealthy atmosphere that surrounds certain threads, it thrives on comments like yours, like the ones above
I know where my faults lie, my reply to Davids post may have been in jest but it is truth that I am aware of truth that I own .
The two of you skillfully work together dropping seeds of turmoil.
You sit back to watch it grow
That's horribly arrogant dark behavior
Many of the poets here have SHIT in their lives they deal with everyday they come here to escape to nestle into a place where they can express themselves by reading and writing poetry.
Personal issues may have primed them made them ready to defend themselves you take advantage of their condition by mindfully inserting your burrs in their garment.
Your behavior has been identified many times
Yet you still claim innocent with priviledge.
You ridicule drone in your thread concerning posts he has made on his own forum.
You insult Carpe by replying to others comments using him as an example of false narrative or conspiracy.
A new thread was started where members could post and have friendly debate or just information to share CORONA TIME
You had to add another burr with your thread THEY ARE OUT THERE formed to ridicule others who think differently than you do.
I'm sure this post will bear no fruit
There will be people who behave as you do wherever I go it's up to me to say my peace with maturity then turn away
Your bait has turned sour and no longer attracts as it once did
When we as adults experience a period of growth in our lives when we have truly turned away from that which has proved to be detrimental or has been recognized as something that has the ability to transform us into someone we don't like someone that bears your reflection
it's that turning away that carries wisdom The wisdom to turn from childish ways to walk on knowing there is nothing you say post or comment that will affect me. I for one will not be the one who turns to gaze knowing the result would be me turned into a pillar of salt
