Take as much care as you possibly can, Rowhouses. You are right when you say we need to see what is happening in Spain, Italy & lots of other places, regarding healthcare's ability to cope. The beaches are packed because the weather is nice. This is like all those Jaws films rolled into one but much worse. In those films, the people were warned but took no notice. Reminds me of that, really. I too am taking this pandemic seriously & listening to all the advice. Your friend, Snaggy. :-)

Global Toll Rises; W.H.O. Expert Says Lockdowns Aren’t Enough

As the number of global coronavirus cases surpassed 300,000 and the death toll rose to more than 13,000, the World Health Organization’s top emergency expert said on Sunday that countries could not simply lock down their societies to defeat coronavirus without public health measures to avoid a resurgence of the virus down the road.

“What we really need to focus on is finding those who are sick, those who have the virus, and isolate them, find their contacts and isolate them,” the expert, Mike Ryan, said in an interview on the BBC’s “Andrew Marr Show.”

speaking as a denizen of this country run by an entire unironic straw man scarecrow

that is the same as taking no action whatsoever. and like we were saying earlier, 60% of the population infected is too many for the nhs. they’ve run pandemic simulators many times before and the computer says many people will die.

ireland is even more fucked as regards healthcare

... so even if it’s too late, the government now must pretend to try, and blame the public and their personal failure if their lungs fail waiting in a&e

Because it's so much easier to blame television personalities or thread starters for blindly influencing the masses.  But seriously, it's akin to desensitization, it's become so commonplace that the people are numb. People went numb when an obvious ( imo ) narcissistic authoritarian was elected, because it showed the hearts of those who supported him. He acted and said and did what they inwardly wished they could; he became their spokesman.  This divided many families and friendships.  Everything after that, including the selling of stocks, is par for the course. That's why.

I went to the store two weeks before things escalated here to stock up, not hoard, but buy hygiene, water, meds, etc. The store and pharmacy were busy, but I looked around and was surprised that people were just buying regular shit, going about their normal business.  My behavior was based on what I saw happening in other countries around the world.

I did too. I wasn't afraid, I was doing what I considered to be smart.  I already sensed this virus was here.  Intelligence reported the possibility back in Jan & Feb and our illustrious leaders downplayed it.  I basically saw what was coming so I wasn't blindsided.

I currently have flu-like symptoms (and asthma albeit mild), but am told that I don’t meet the state’s criteria to be tested or to self-quarantine because I have not travelled outside the country in the last 14 days and have not knowingly come in contact with someone that has tested positive (there are positive tests in my county). Monitor my symptoms, but otherwise business as usual and feel better. I also, and I won’t say where to protect myself, but I work in a facility that warrants at least some degree of extra caution.

I have asthma and had a recent flare-up ( Craic actually heard me coughing up a lung during our podcast interview ).  It's the worst I've had in over 20 years, and it took two rounds of antibiotics and steroids to combat it.  I haven't taken prescription meds like that in decades. I go homeopathic—and even combated the prescription use with probiotics and such.  But, this was something different. I would cough until I almost passed out.  thankfully I'm fully recovered, but still under self-quarantine on doctor's orders until I return next month, not because I am infected, but because I could easily become infected.  I feel there something in the air.  But that's my opinion.

If you have no symptoms and are following reasonable safety and cleanliness guidelines, yeah maybe your daily activity should be your choice. But from my experience and a few things I’ve seen from other people, there are individuals that are likely infected and I would not say they are being too cautious or suspiciously cautious (trying to destroy the economy), in fact, probably the opposite. Thoughts?

Exactly. And they're as reckless as a drunk driver when it comes to another's life.  So everyone will have to excuse my temper when it comes to dealing with those who are overtly being flippant about this. But, as I said a few posts back, there is a difference in defending one's freedom and endangering the lives of others.

French police are threatening to strike because they've no ppi. among other things they're concerned they'll be infecting people they stop and check for papers (over 350,000 so far)

I think they're right, it's a massive oversight by the French (wanna be) emperor.

french medics have brought a legal case against the government for inaction (failing to do their duties) they say the government knew as early as mid January shit was about to hit the fan not only didn't act but went ahead with municple elections even when it became painfully obvious large crowds were endangering lives

It's not ideal, but if the government (and wanna be emperor) wont act properly it's a bit much to ask/ force/ punish the people for following suit

that said, I think the people should hold it together, stay safe, keep others safe. then the very minute it's safe to, take the government down and punish them

same goes for all the governments and wanna be emperors around the world

I'm talking death penalty: proper French people- justice

This is heartbreaking and very emotional to watch—so if you are SENSITIVE please do NOT watch it. But, most importantly, if you do, please heed their message about lockdown.

Years ago... people were talking about how dangerous those biological weapons were.

There aren't many ways to make something virulent. Sick, deficient people potentate it. Healthy people attenuate infectious viruses.

But, here's the kicker... sick people make viruses more dangerous!

I'm not providing evidence because the kitchen sharks are circling. GTG💖

The point was they infected healthy non-deficient rats with deficient-and-infected rat cocksakie... the result was heart damage.

The same virus won't do that, passed from well-fed to well-fed rats!

And measles taught me that the closest contact person gets exposed AND sicker than the first infectious person. Because they don't get one or a few thousand live viruses, they start with millions or billions and it multiplies from there.

Don't get Coronavirus... especially from sickly people. Even if you are very strong!!

Hey, Jess, could you possibly edit your posts rather than posting subsequently four times ( one is okay ), being that no one responded after you ( if someone had responded that would be different )!  Thanks and stay safe and healthy!
