Poetry Contest

Simply amazing ink!
It's time for our "Poem of the Month" to be featured in the DUP 'Poem of the Month Hall of Fame' and on the official facebook page for September 2019!.

You have three weeks to nominate no more than two of you favorite poems from another DUP poet!

Please note the following when making nominations:

1. Self nominations are not accepted. The great majority of the competitions here are about spotlighting one's own work on a particular topic or theme.  This is a chance to nominate that poem that you wish you had written but some other great talent here beat you to it.

2. Please limit your nominations to TWO poems. You can nominate a single poem for two different poets; but the nomination maximum remains at TWO (no matter how many pseudonyms they have).  The majority of competitions on DUP cap nominations at one or two poems so there's no need to go beyond that.

No DUPLICATES. If someone nominates the same poem the entry will be deleted. If you like it that much wait and vote for it!

Any genre except erotica or pornography. This is a Facebook feature and we must adhere to their guidelines.

BIG CHANGE:

ALL POETS ARE ELGIBLE AT THIS TIME, INCLUDING PREVIOUS WINNERS!

Any member who is banned or disables their account PRIOR to the win will be automatically disqualified.

Any nominated member who wishes to opt out of the competition may do so by messaging me ( Poem-Worm ). I will contact the person who nominated you and request an alternate nomination.

Nomination Duration is three weeks followed by a week of site voting!

A day of cooler clime it takes me there

The wind on Cornish cliffs
says there’s a God

The faces bleached & bare
don’t spare the rod

Before the clan of men
these edges trod

Where flourishes sea bass,
pilchard and cod

The moss along the beach
are gathered first

Within the forces, rains
that try one’s thirst

The seagulls tack and cry
amid the ports

With ev’ry kind
humanity and sorts

While coastal fronts
between to drive a wedge

The trolls that tend the bogs,
the faery hedge

The legends, myths & tales
in forest swamp

Across the thick and green
the Shetlands romp

Their nicker sounds to toss
their shaggy manes

While over in the marsh,
two common cranes

Into more subtle seek
a subject wades

Into a Cornish reach
such depth evades

May time & weather’s vane
to those who sail

Return ye Cornwall once
upon a gale

Full

She gave her body
up for a meal
and the memory
of what money
can do to a girl
who needs another
mouth
full...

Look

We danced all night to the beat of the band
you took my hand, and I looked in your eyes
the what ifs laid in wonder
I wandered a bit til the lights came on

a spark like that, made us both pretend
life had started again
I breathed you in
in one last final breathe

we said we wouldn't forget
and fate would bring us back
if it was meant to be
no numbers took
just a kiss, a smile
and a never forgetting look

Breathlessness

Soul-moving, heart-touching fabrics
of a canvas-like existence
forming vacuum bubbles of Absoluteness.

Breathless

Life resurrected into quantum pieces
Taking breaths; raining Selflessness
Shocking to awareness,
forming to Feel.

Forming to Live

Breathing to understand;
being breathless to allow self
to live a life
IN Understanding

of a painted
cried out
Purpose.

Alleviate "Me".
Watch it unfold
In Breathlessness
of its vast structure
through the Realization

..that there is none..
