The Reading List

poet Anonymous

Poetry Contest

Hosted by The Poetcast Project

Good evening my lovelies!

This competition is to launch a new future feature on The Poetcast Project — The Reading List.

The format of the interview is simple, we have a candid chat with you about your three pieces that you are most proud of. What you believe should be in people’s reading lists and why.

The winner of this competition will be our first guest on the show, so we will need you to have a friendly little chat with us on Skype so we can make a bit of a fuss of you stunning little gems

The podcast goes out to a lot of major platforms including YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts so it’s some great exposure for your writing.

For this competition, you will be required to submit one brand new piece. It can be any subject (except extreme porn) but it should wow us.

You should also provide the links of two other poems in your current collection that you would want to talk about.

Honestly, we don’t bite.

Rules

* The winner gets to appear as a guest on the show and agrees to be interviewed. Skype account required. (It will probably be the September show now)

* Please submit one brand new poem and the links to two older poems that you would want to talk about. Please submit this in the same post to keep the thread neat.

*Open to everybody, however one entry per human being.

* Winner will be decided by The Poetcast Project team and a couple of extra impartial judges I am yet to approach.

* Any questions, please PM ThePoetcastProject account.

Good luck!

hullo

just for my own clarity :

I enter a poem

if it wins, I pick three poems from my reading list which I think are amazeballs

I chat bout those and other stuff with the voice of a million  Essex angles  for an upcoming podcast ?

question: is skype the only medium we can use ? what about messenger or that other one I can't remember

Hullo yourself

You enter 1 new poem that you have written. You then enter underneath the new poem the two links of other poems you would want to talk about that you think should be in people’s reading lists.

Yes, the interview would be with me and my Essex voice that is in no way accurately portrayed in the podcast.

And it needs to be Skype at the moment... because it has the best record function, and my condenser mic runs though the IPad which doesn’t have access to audacity 👍🏻

Yup. One new poem followed by two links of others you would want to talk about.

Between Ghosts and Future

"Watch the context....
It reads wrong...
Go fuck somebody else, sorry I'm still a little raw..."

The result of my constant need for walls and running... to run away from what I want because I am fearful of the outcome is a practice I've held in the shards of my corroded heart...since....since...

Well...
I guess since I left him... since I lost myself submitting to a man who took me from myself and left nothing but blood on the linoliuem, bruises on my face, scars on my spirit in return.

I fell in love with walls... the way they granted the power to be built as tall as I so chose them to be... how brick by brick I could ward off anything that might cause me to ache that way again.

I don't remember the last time I was given a choice before now...

"Shut the fuck up bitch! You don't know what you're talking about!"
"I make the decisions, what I say fucking goes, you should know that by now!"

Echos haunt me even now... nights alone are both dear and haunted for me depending on which way my mind decides to run. Sleep a stranger that I visit from time to time wrapped in the arms of my keeper and how I miss it when it... him...when they're gone.

"Good morning beautiful."

What the hell does he see in me?

"You're a fucking useless slut!"

I almost believed that once before I got off my knees and tried to gather the pieces of myself again. The mind is a terrible thing to waste....but even worse is the fate of allowing an infection to breed in your own self image.

I still find myself some nights screaming for him to stop, still find myself rocking on the bathroom floor tears streaming my cheeks hating what I allowed him to destroy in me.

"You can't change the past, but you have a chance now to make a better life lil one."

I am still in pieces, shambles if you will, but there is this man that won't stand for anything but me at my best that deserves me whole.

Still fearful of what the future holds...no longer running.

"Baby please help me forget, hold me in your arms!"

I choose to try again... because life is to short to live tangled up in ghosts.

Comforting Clot

Comfort Zones leave little room for growth,
We reach for what we push away.
The redundance a two left feet attempt at dancing another day.
Figuratively speaking we are the plague, leaving us ill and separated.

How long can we stay when we are away?

Does the future hold us in its arms?

Catching breath between suffocation and want.
What's meant to heal, terrifies the tarnished heart.

Hello Erotic_Goddess. Please can you add another link as it needs to be two additional poems at the end. Thanks.

There are 2 links I believe one is at the top and the other is under the new poem, I didn't put it that way but that's how it posted.
