no keys to wonderland today ~ day one

I tell myself don't chase it
& you'll be fine
but once you're on the hunt
it's all over with

you'll run it down
until you get that rush
that crystal high

no keys to wonderland today
this is day one
to see if I can beat this monster

I never saw myself doing this drug
always kind of looked down on meth users
being a former heroin addict
I thought my drug superior
but after years clean
I got bored
& it was in my face

people getting high
in front of me round the clock
so I tried it
it was wonderful
the peace & calm it brought
I suffer from depression & anxiety
it was the perfect cure

then the shame set in
of letting my family down
they would be devastated
if they found out

so I quit
one, two, three times now
just to forget the extreme lows
during withdrawal

so no keys to wonderland today
I prefer reality to fantasy
let's see if I can do it this time

I will journal this trip
for my own sanity
& take you on a ride with me
into the insanity of crystal meth

Not My Time

Panic envelops
It will not let me rest
Suffocates my breathing
Heavy pounding in my chest

Wrangling with my sheets
In a cold and clammy sweat
Hating myself again
Addictive actions I regret

Dependence on this vice
It’s death that I cry for
Half asleep in my agony
A shallow knock upon my door

I call out “just a minute”
But my voice is unheard
Still there is a rapping
Eyes half open, vision blurred

I yell now “I am coming!”
Try to rise but feel distraught
Then my mother’s angelic voice
Whispers softly “No you’re not”

Her final breath

Can’t get enough, heart racing
blood pumps violently through his veins
sweat beads on his forehead
acquired by the thermal high inside

Manic mind of what’s coming
slaver evades his lips.
Fists tense, knuckles white
bones protruding in hope,
of yet another glorious night.

A little commotion, a scrambled step
keys clambering to the floor
“Pull it together man” he thinks
hunger ravishes his core

Hurdling down three steps at a time
his feet can’t beat with his heart
dry reaching never felt so good
abuse is a specific art

Ignite the start with a blissful whir
lights passing faster with heavy foot
Taking the corners elevated
trash cans engage with his hood

Finally his destination arrives‭
he wipes the sweat from his brow
wallet checked for requirements
then into the darkness he roams.

Five steps away from his hour of bliss
He cannot control his shiver
so close to his addiction now
his mind races with illustrious desire.

A sweep of his hair,
shirt tucked in just right
A smirk, for a harmonious greet
Five, four, three, two steps, one more

he counts to his desperate need

Now some would see his body language
and understand how intense he is
He is about to lather his soul with love
a seduction he carries so well.

His heart beats at the scent of the air he breathes
palms are starting to swell.

“Hey baby, you look amazing tonight”
She advances peering up, with qualm

“For me, you made this effort?” he states
She nods unspoken words

“Thank you my darling, I see the effort you made,
now turn around and show me what I beg to adore”

She turns slow with a smile so wide
Confusion deep inside
Pondering on the thoughts she has
tonight may be the one she awaits.

One where she doesn’t have to run and hide!

He studies every speck of her
As she twirls with dubious eyes
He grabs her wrists and locks them firm
pulling her down to his thighs

“I told you I am your master,
I told you I am the one
I told you my expectations
I told you, you are my drug!
I told you I will not accept
disobedience or fastidious neglect”

Anything less than perfection
will bring out the fear in her eyes

“But baby what have I forgotten?
She pleads with desperate beats.

“This blemish is a reminder,
of your defiance to my last request,
I told you I can’t be reminded
of your insubordinate ways!”

“This bruise right here,” he presses firm
“ I should not be able to see,
yet here in full sight,
just proves to me,
you do not understand”

Tears streaming down
reveals  her deepest pain
for she had given her everything
to abide by his every demand
But how does she hide the bruises
he inflicts on her every night?

With bones stretched across his hand
He screams “So I must set this right!”

Eyes that summoned the darkness
now emulate his cimmerian shade inside
For he will show no weakness
as he reaches for his prey

Forcing pain is his power and that power throbs through his veins
She has become his weakness
For this she must now pay!

He left her bleeding on the floor
So broken she cannot breathe
Bones protruding from her rib cage
eyes buried in bulgy gore

Five steps back and a smile he shines
for he has got his fix
she his drug he thrives so bad
to fulfil his powerful need

He is a man and he must serve,
his own beliefs make it alright
he can sleep like the king he is
and return tomorrow for his delight

But he is the one who misunderstands
Tomorrow he may return
but the king has rendered his abuse on her,
for the very last time!
