                 Darkness and Light

You cannot have have darkness without the light
You cannot have a morning without the night
You cannot have a void without the occupied
Darkness is akin to light more than you like
Dark is the yang, yin is the light
And somewhere in-between is your soul
                    Dwelling in the twilight!

In the Darkness With You

You blend in so perfectly with the night,
But you love it anyways.
I cannot see you, but I can feel your gaze.
I know that everything feels so right
With you and I am not afraid anymore.
With every day there is more to explore,
But we have a lifetime for that
And happiness to come our way.
You give darkness more than anything flat
Because you give it life and meaning.
Even when I stumble and stray
I know that I am still leaning
On you. Darkness is where
You and I can always find a home.

Unceremonious Ritual

I long for her in the night,
Like a song of dark tales and black veils
 In the way she grooves,
 In the way she moves,
Like undulating and stimulating waves
 Of passions in the darkness,
   Crashing into madness,
Yet she lingers softly in the shadows.

I ache for her in the dusk,
Like erotic nightmares with sensual stares,
And exotic dreams I’ve yet to share,
Which can only be visualized in the dark,
It’s a play of airs full of sensory insinuations,
 And none of the deprivation,
 Which can only be embraced
In the obscurities of the lark.

I yearn for her in the gloom,
Without limit, boundaries or uncertainties,
I am one with her as she with me,
 Like an unceremonious ritual,
Uninhibited and yet so spiritual,
Where secrets lusts are at the cusp,
 Overflowing and forever going,
Into the deepest realms of the unknown.

I hunger for her without dread,
For I do not fear anything.
 Living and or dead,
She will belong to me complete and whole,
And in that darkness we will stay,
For a thousand years and a day,
My affinity for the night is in the crux,
At the center of me, in my soul.

After much deliberation, I decided on the winner, Madame, for her entry Yöllinen. Esoteric, like ancient folklore, colourful metaphors. A write that paints a picture, and that it did. Quite an enjoyable read.

For the runners-up, Jade, your bleak romantic piece, symbolic of the darker nature of humanity, evoked deeper thought.

And God-Is-In-The-Rain, your piece challenged the nature of the competition, showing an outside-the-box perspective, for the absence of light is darkness itself. I imagined the chaos of this, as many a creature wonder where went their sustaining light, succumb to madness.

Congratulations, and thank you all for participating.

You can throw one hell of a competition Void. I wish for more. I regret I didn't have the courage, or confidence to enter.  Great choice on the winners. Congratulations Madame.
