As nature intended

Poetry Contest Description
Write a poem with photograph inspired by nature.
This is an observational competition.
I’d like you to go out for a walk. Like an actual walk. You’ll physically have to put one foot in front of the other, go outside by yourself, and venture into the world. I understand this is utterly terrifying for some of you to detach from the internet for half an hour, but eyes on the prize, people...
I’d like you to take a photograph of something in nature that you find fascinating, be it a tree, a leaf, a stone, a cloud. Notice the shape, the colour, how it makes you feel. Anything that inspires you to write about yourself.
Rules
* Your photo must be attached with your entry. Photo should be your own original photo. No googled images. I will be checking.
* One entry only. No collabs.
* Please title your entry.
* Any length. No word count.
* Poem must be about you, and should be considered ‘self’ poetry. It can be happy, sad, dark, or rainbow coloured - as long as it’s about you.
*Three weeks. Any questions, please feel free to ask via PM.
How to upload a photo on your entry
1. Upload your photo to an image sharing site. Some good ones to use are imgur, or Flickr. I use imageshack.us. Avoid Photobucket - it now incurs stupid financial charges to share and refuses to display your image. Give it the middle finger, and choose another website.
2. Obtain the direct image link. If you’re on a phone, when you click the share button it should come up with four addresses to chose from (url, direct, forum & html). Copy the ‘direct’ link. This should end in .jpg.
If you’re on a laptop, you can right click the image and go to ‘properties’. Under ‘information’ you should be able to copy the direct address for the image. This should end in .jpg
3. On the forum type [ img]PASTE YOUR DIRECT LINK HERE[/ img]
- do not leave any spaces on the 2 IMG parts, this is just so this shows up for this tutorial.
- do not leave any spaces between the bracket and the link.
4. Preview your post first to see if your picture is there.
5. Voila, your image is on deep underground.

As If, A Spring Queen
Winter has lifted its skirts, rolling
back the death of things, revealing
petticoat underlings of lace, at
woodland edges.
I care not for worldly things, when
all is well, in Nature.
Ah, Queen Anne, of
the Bashful Blooms, steps forth
in vernal splendor, from
long shadows
and icy grips
of Northern winds, now
but a memory.

Just a Walk
Alone I walk
shawled in thoughts
treading light and soft
on moss green paths
old rocks and pebbles
paved the moist soggy
ground of green grass
smooth as a shaggy carpet
Sounds of twittering birds
serenades the balmy air
hopping squirrels on branches
rustles the canopies of green
on the jungle floor
tranquility reigns
except for rustles of dwellers
in the green Kingdom
Hearts call and fragrance
of rose petals comes from afar
of bread baking and candles
flickering on windows
return, whispers the heart
To a beloved hearth
but always out there
Eden calls to take me home.

Pink Rose
Open up your rosy pink petals
As I walk on by. The knot that settles
Within my stomach is set free to
Flutter like butterflies. Darling, you
Remind me of fresh spring days,
Filled with so much life. Your gaze
Reminds of innocence. You bring
So much hope and you always sing
To me softly like my favorite lullaby.
You bring me back to every high
When I am feeling low. You are
A reminder for everything that is far
But so close by and within a church.
You are everything that I search
For within the darkness. Your airiness
Lets me know to let go of weariness
That settles deep within my bones.
You bring me to a new zen and zones.

Within my stomach is set free to
Flutter like butterflies. Darling, you
Remind me of fresh spring days,

thirty five thousand steps of joy
morning light
glorious
bright
not yet
like cicadas
they rose
from the ground:
the grind of
modern day life
before the sun
they rose as one
yet miles apart
on land
mates
the meeting
with sun kissing goodbyes
to the horizon in the background
the fun
had already begun
the journey
through the woods
at pace
of a swooping hawk
with beats of high bass
punctuated by
synchronized laughter
of a mob of three
crumbs
for the diet
fluids
for the feat
ready they were
for the twice a year treat
beginning at the creek
before the waterfall
geckos basking
serenity enthralls
few steps on
welcomes the terrain
a million miles away
from the
bustling city's domain
with cliffs
gorges
falls
azure skies above
the blue of the ocean
splashing about the cove
living has now begun
tracks parsing the bush
into valleys dense
and cush
welcome sights galore
dunes by the shore
left behind were men
with the city-life
the grind
enjoying the bliss
here they're children
this is the peak
of joy
savored
cherished
by the company of mates
at paradise's gates
the sweat
the aches
at noon
walking
admiring dunes
was worth
every bit
neutered
by the lagoon.
thirty five thousand
the steps of joy
thirty five thousand livings
money can't buy!
Author's note:
a memoir of recent nature walk by the coast with 2 of the best friends, the dense bush, beautiful valleys, beaches and wildlife, cleansing the souls.
