The First Time I Saw Her

The first time I saw her,
I had to conceal my eyes,
It was just that thing about her,
I didn’t know what to do or say,
Besides, I was being shy,
The only thing I could think of,
Was hiding.
And when she looked at me,
I felt some kind of wave,
That still to this day I can’t explain,
But it rushed through me,
It soared and surged in me,
A flow of constant inspiration,
It lingered from then on,
With no sign of fading away.

for your eyes only

this face of mine
when the duct tape
gives way and it leaks
like a broken faucet,

remnants of depressed
folly - lacerations, burns,
and hidden calluses,

the way i look into
the dark beyond when
i'm down in a rabbit hole,

a fire burning tall
and wide, overtaking
the world's storms,
mountains,

my stretched-out grin,
and better yet:
a nervous twitch at
the corner of my lips,

a hope, a feverish hunger
as strong as goliath
and resourceful as david,

my dancing in the dark;
the cracks in my frame
which i've lined with gold,

a box full of tattered journals,
broken marbles/ a void
as pure as snow, smoke,
whispered secrets,

my sub rosa shade of pink,
a soon-to-be tattoo,
and a song that usually
never sees the light of day.

I extend my appreciation to our host sirBoring for another opportunity to express one's romantic side, and for the win in his #14th in the romance series.  I also congratulate Diddi & JJJJay Jr for joining me on the podium.  See you in #15!
