Strange Being

The eyes peer
sadly
from an open carhold
distance
carried for miles
clatter
clacked loud
into those
transponder eyes
as I
asked
how far
Sir
how far the next stop
translucent stares
breathe empty
while tongues
contort
mumbling something
incoherent
wide smiles
break into laughter
swallowing
silence
indifference
clatter, clatter
no longer self-assured
time
finally
setting down the mirror

Nemesis

hatred and anger as pills taken
together under the heat of wrath
a bite on the flesh
a cut, blood seeping
through heart’s gauzy bandages
bravely borne

to acknowledge defeat
needs strength to forgive
stronger yet to forget

Tiny Town

Cars on wooden spokes
putter
down longview
picnic baskets strapped
on back luggage racks
smiles
that parades bring in

flowing  ensembles
float
twirling batons and acrobats
float
marching bands rat-ta-tat snaps
tones in xylophone timbre, lazy tubas
mothers cheer "that's my boy"
distant fathers buy more pop-corn

We took in the nights nostalgia, wrapping funnel cakes in newspaper; tearing off bits and feeding them to one another.
The dose of connfection kissed from our lips, giggles like tippany
drummed from the heart.
Want became art by the craft we shared, tines of a fork twirled by fingers, feasting ambrosia.
Walking along sidewalks and toe-paths we crack wise to the thunder, fireworks going off in the distance; hearing the sizzle of roman candles, lights of crossette and brocade mixing with dragon eggs.

Were we simply shadow on the fringe of society?
I think not, as I see Her jaw light up and the colour bounce within Her eyes; we could see quite clear as our bodies melded together.
Pet names coo as the love unleashed was undoubtedly set for running distance.
She was brave and original, all that was packaged by boyhood wishes; no hour was too late for actualized dreams.
Society wasn't destroyed in a day, our distance from it was for our own posterity, preservation for sake of natural union.
Eventually the clowns go home washing their make-up off and that annoying buzz from the sugar filled kids quickly sent them off to bed.
While we are there to witness, walking back around the block.
Our shadows loom under the streetlights talking of tomorrow as we grab hold of each other; letting nothing come between.

A Girl I know

sparkles of eyes
confident smile
striding not sashaying
seeking a life of adventure

a beauty, an hourglass figure
a smile that stop one's breath
an embrace that's as genuine
as a gentle breeze at dawn

Inspiring Woman

Bearing your experiences
rejoicing in hope
head on in your journeys
believing, you cope
strong and faithful
upon gratefulness you drew
goodness exists
your accepted world view
modest pride
offering dedication
praiseworthy causes
time, your donation
honouring the indigent
with an easy grin
alive, your compassion
no soul in sin
comforting the afflicted
those grieving
spiritual  support
all worthy of receiving
spirit infectious
motives true
in awe, I am inspired
amazingly through you

To Us Her Heart Was Given...

Never knew what it was
To be truly generous
Until I met this angel
Who brought the light to us

In a cycle of prey-hunting players
She simple rolled aloof
She gave up everything
Like a sheep amidst the wolves

But it was all deliberate
She didn't fall for the game
She wasn't ignorant whatsoever
And neither was she lame

She just wanted to teach a lesson
To a bunch of clouded minds
That thought it was a fool's venture
To be tender and nice

Thus in return for all her kindness
She got all the nasty stuff
But in the midst of all the madness
She just wouldn't stop

She persisted till the coldness
Of our teenage little hearts
Could not help but stoop to her boldness
And grasped the sacred fact

That it takes courage and power
To be generous and to care
And look out for the good of others
For love conquers every fear

Never settle down

Oh my goodness!
How could this be?
You mean so much to me,
But I'd never let you be free.

You're always moving up.
You'd never settle down.
It wasn't meant to be.

I thought I could break on through,
But I wasn't strong enough for you.
I never felt like such a fool.
You never really wanted
Anything anyway,
Or at least not anymore.

You're always moving up.
You'd never settle down.
It's just who you are.

Everyday I look for your face
To see your eyes through my shades.
It's too late to lose my facade.
No point in falling away
Nothing for me anyway.

You just slipped through
My finger tips
I couldn't hold onto you
Not even with a frown.
You're always moving up.
You'd never settle down.
It wasn't meant to be.
It was never up to me.

You'd never settle down.
You'd never settle down,
And you'd always slip away.
