I see! Thank you ☆ I'll probably make another, but a longer one this time. Made the last one as a quicky yesterday I think.

Black Sand
(my poem, not an entry - paired with an image, not from the competition)

Drawn to the distance of a sunset
from shore before darkness,
she stands looking across the bay

with its never ending horizon
closing in before
the tide caresses her melancholy.

Breezes shifting sands like snow drifts
as she makes her way
through beached seaweed,

where ghost crabs scuttle, and the
girl of storms walks to the
surf that bids her welcome,

whispering that now is the time to leave,
returning to where
sea foam waves die, and are reborn

in a movement that touches nothing
from the land. She will miss
nothing more than the lilting sound

of slack key guitars playing
from the groves, and the
warm touch of skin upon skin

while foot prints sunk in black sand
fill with brine and disappear,
spent.

#12: Merman
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f248/jadepandora/merman2%20revised%2000.png

(#12) (1983) A Merman I Should Turn to Be  (this is not an entry)
(by Jimi Hendrix, released on "Electric Ladyland" 1968)
To hear the original song: http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=9818

Hurrah! I awake from yesterday
Alive but the war is here to stay
So, my love, Catherina and me
Decide to take our last walk
Through the noise to the sea
Not to die but to be re-born
Away from a life so battered and torn
Forever

Oh, say can you see, it's really such a mess
Every inch of earth is a fighting nest
Giant pencil and lip-stick tube shaped things
Continue to rain and cause screaming pain
And the arctic stains
From silver blue to bloody red
As our feet find the sand and the sea
Is straight ahead, straight ahead

Well it's too bad that our friends can't be with us today
Well that's too bad
"The machine that we built would never save us"
That's what they say
(That's why they aren't coming with us today)
And they also said
"It's impossible for man to live and breathe underwater forever"
Was their main complaint
(Yeah)
And they also threw this in my face, they said:
"Anyway, you know good well
It would be beyond the will of God
And the grace of the King"
(grace of the King yeah, yeah)

So my darling and I make love in the sand
To salute the last moment ever on dry land
Our machine has done its work, played its part well
Without a scratch on our bodies and we bid it farewell
Starfish and giant foams greet us with a smile
Before our heads go under, we take a last look
At the killing noise of the out of style
The out of style, out of style

So down and down and down and down
And down and down we go
Hurry, my darling, we mustn't be late for the show
Neptune champion games to an aqua world is so very dear
Right this way smiles a mermaid
I can hear Atlantis full of cheer
Atlantis full of cheer
I can hear Atlantis full of cheer

#7 Water nymph

Flowing forever

Translucent lucidity serenading serendipity
your gracious form flickers within
the gentle streams of my soul
I attempt to touch your beauty
leaving only ringing rings echoing out eternally
across the placid pond and beyond
Liquid perfection dividing two beings
Illusion creating its own conclusion
You are not a creature to capture
but a being to behold within rapture
A mere glimpse of perfection swimming before me.....
swimming away from me...
back to the sparkling gleams
of the stream like a dream

#14 The siren and the nymph

Falling into glowing blue.
The shades draw deep but the sun comes through the surface. It's purpose, broken, into rolling waves that sway and solely wash away, imperfect. I'm certain, some things remain in the currents there between us.
We blur them, to free us, from what we cannot be. We can't. Can't you see that too?
I don't think I love you, anymore.

#11: Magical mer

In The Heart of the Sea:

She throws silvery liquified binding cords
from her hands like blades “Rise up my
love, rise!’” she says

unsearchable in her repose - it's sounding
music when solstice thunders and lightning
fold within sand, where striped rainbow
urchins are fondled by shells elements -

With a undinal vast belly full of mirroring
tides, she fights dark travelling adagios
which enter her watery terrains, owning
the sea, it is the only lover she’s ever
known

her superscripted winds conceives
ascending waves, which has the power
to shift questing galleons and their men,
who gazes toward paradise with harmful
intention - though she possesses a
fondness for the humanly specie

Islanders can hear her songs as they too
must be lead inviolably while expunging
intre and outre defeat

Beautiful are her confessional spells.

#5:  Mer lovers

Mystic Shores

The acquaintance with the sun
and moon's illumination lights the
sky of an underwater palace

it uncovers a portrait of my lover &
i, our hands, feet, and destinies
entwined - this is the beginning of
my flower dancing in submission

he invited me into this frame of
faith, and dressed me with garlands
of kindness and strength
-
I think of him today, aching beautiful
aches at heart .so the “sentiments”
painted on my lips will not speak
woes..

it’s pure as fountains… enriching
as mineral springs on lands above/
because of a storm.. .we were
brought to the mystical shores of
each other's swaying tails

and i launched forth in mid-flight out
of raging sea….dove straight back
down with powers of a blooming
tempest /  joyfully swept and moved
by the waves he gifted inside me

- The acquaintance with the sun
and moon's illumination lights the
sky of our underwater palace

they've uncovered a portrait of my
lover & i, that was the beginning of
my flower dancing in submission for
the loveliest aquatic being.

There we are posed in a immortalised coil

(#1 - Bath)

Gills

I would give up a year of living
to love something the way you love the water;
I was convinced time had slaughtered
any mirage of childhood I had left -
when I look around me, all the meaning abates;
it had its moment to crest, rest, then crash with the waves,
but you and your gills still believe in the seasons,
and they could forever - even in an ocean's breezes

on sand bars;
even through the salt that stings this sealess man's scars;
even through a mess at the depths in depressing caviar -
hell, if the ocean froze, your hopeful mermaid toes
could turn the ice to gold;

you must have brushed the water, hushed every aquatic evil,
and sought the old, ferocious ocean spoken through your sweet gills.

#4:  Mer love

Underwater Love

Strong fingertips barely touching my skin like he cannot
Get enough. Our breaths mingled together in the salty
Ocean air. This is our oxygen. We are tangled in a knot

Like our tails, getting so lost in each other. Our bodies
Being pushed together by the strong water current. Hand
Lying against his chest to feel his steady and unfaulty

Heartbeat. In this underwater world, this is our wetland
And our home. He is my kind of freedom and hope.
We are more than just a tiny and small grain of sand.

He washes away my sadness and helps me cope
With loss. He is my pearl and anchors all wrapped in one.
He is a part of my soul. He is my heart. He is my rope

That is always around me. Even though the sun
Does not shine, he is still my sun and light.
He is still here when everything has sunk and is done.
