Life Drawing

Upon the platform
You pose.
A real human.
Unruly body hair,
Scars
Skin, blemished
Stretched over
Muscle
Bony knees
Dirty feet
A bruise
A real human
Surrounded by artists
One minute
A new pose
We draw
Trying to capture the movement
The art you create with your body
A new pose
We draw
Minute after minute
We draw
You pose
You challenge us
Challenging yourself
with dynamic contortions
and
simple actions
Expanding concepts of the human form
Your face
Your breathing
Revealing your effort
We do our best to keep up
Not to be distracted
by
The intimacy
of
drawing.
Eyes and mind
Roving over your body
Working
to
capture you
in charcoal,
Conte
Graphite
Pastel
as a singular human
Individual beauty
Unclothed
Unashamed
Confident
Naked and free before us
How I want to be on the stage
Unashamed
Confident
To be the focus of such intimacy
Challenge my audience
Like you
Perhaps
Even
Transcend
Superficial desire
And
Be
Seen
As beautiful [as I see you]
For what I bring
To the platform.
