Why I Hate My Generation

Our generation is the iPod generation, the smart phone generation, the Facebook generation, one that speaks through technology. That is how our voices are heard today: through texts, messages and the internet.

Studies report that  75 percent of teens own cell phones and 87 percent use the Internet. When faced with a room containing strangers, many of us don't even look up from our phones long enough to see the people around us let alone communicate with them.

I am a seventeen year old boy and was unfortunately born into the most dysfunctional generation ever. I sometimes just want to break down and cry. Back in the old days the younger generation actually acted like they wanted to make a difference out in the world. Today what do we have? A bunch of brain-dead teenagers who only care about making differences to their MySpace, Facebook, instagram and twitter pages. When was the last time someone our age held a war protest? When was the last time someone our age organized a clean-up day? When was the last time you had a conversation with someone your age who didn't have a smartphone in their hands?

According to a survey by CTIA: The Wireless Association, 57 percent of teens believe their cell phones have enhanced their lives. The cell phone technology has improved our generation's ability to maintain contact with guardians and family members. However, mostly, I believe technology has let the words of my generation become seemingly meaningless.

It’s all about I me mine and nothing about us we them and yours. Teamwork is dead. No one reads books anymore. No one listens to anything that can be justified as music. Killing and violence fills our media. No one smiles and no one laughs unless it is making fun of another person. It’s just sad. I really wonder where our future is headed. It scares me. I guess there are a few out there who do care about things. There are a few out there who want to make a difference. To those of you like that, may the FORCE BE WITH YOU!!! What this world needs now is love, peace and break from technology.

At the end of the day, we’re all equal, we’re all human and we all deserve equal rights in life. Don’t you think we all deserve happiness? Let’s make that happen. Let’s stop the overuse of social media, let’s stop the degradation of our generation , let’s stop the ever increasing expansion of life destroying technology . Let’s keep our best memories within our bodies rather than sharing them on social media, as the thing you will want most “At the moment of death, when the seed atom in the heart is ruptured, which contains all the experience of the past life in a panoramic picture, the spirit leaves its physical body, taking with it the finer bodies.”
