Laughter from
inside screen
doors.
Sultry,
shirts cling
to backs
Cicadas throb.
Rolling on grass,
scent of cool
green.
Mosquito
itch
burning.
Cloudless
thunder.
Fire
painting
the sky.
Sulfur
hanging.
Amazement!
Fourth of
July in a
