Shorter Days
sunrise comes later in the mornings
the dusk shadows gather earlier
the evening light fades away sooner
a hint of a chill lingers in the air
teasing of autumn
and of the cold weather to come
the dusk shadows gather earlier
the evening light fades away sooner
a hint of a chill lingers in the air
teasing of autumn
and of the cold weather to come

I will never forget
One night in August 2024 I took a walk down to the beach to hear the teenagers roll into shore
I smelled smoke
I looked across the street
Someone had nailed a bum to the neon lit 7-11 sign
His body formed the sign of the cross
He had been torched
There he was, crackling and burning against the night sky
He was the first saint I had ever seen
I smelled smoke
I looked across the street
Someone had nailed a bum to the neon lit 7-11 sign
His body formed the sign of the cross
He had been torched
There he was, crackling and burning against the night sky
He was the first saint I had ever seen

Life Lessons pt 4 (Revelations)
(It did not rain all the time in London. The sidewalks were cleaner. Older Londoners love to have tea with milk and cookies. I remember there was also a thing about flowers in the front yard and it had to look better than someone else’s)
This was our last week in the UK. David and I were allowed to see each other as long as there was an adult nearby.
My sister and I and the other cousins went to meet up with some of their friends from school. These are the same bunch of girls that offered me the cigarette.
