The effect of a Gentle Stroke- Taste of Wine
I sat still with the idea to listen
To what life has to bring
while the voice within spoke
About those things
that last like
a stroke
The tenderness within evoked
A fountain of limitless interaction
The inclination of those verbal encounter
Of him and her, intellectual cords,
In oblivious and senseless contractions
bore rumors; the intentions.
Transformed the character into acts of constellation
Engraved scenes written on heaven’s blanket,
The sound of climax and fragrance of Angel’s cloth,
The eyes of...
To what life has to bring

Dawning
There is no mourning
at dawn
with cool dew on the lawn
paint spilt across the sky
For each moment is full
pregnant with possibility
with life and its agility
to unfold itself before me
No longer am I afraid
for all of the fright
from the deep dark night
is vanquished by this sunrise
As the new day begins
with warm gentle rays
these splendid summer days
when winter is just a memory
With so much left behind
in a long quest to find...

Coolness
The wind is defiant today
not blowing the same way
seemingly laden
with a shrill chill
Laced in the September air
coming from everywhere
ushering in this brief
hesitation...
As summer retreats
the new morning greets
with a chilly warning
a clear cautionary whisper
For the seasons will change
as bold autumn will rise
though no real surprise
in this seasonal circle
Seeming without end
as the times now blend
reminding us all
the plumed ascension of fall
not blowing the same way
seemingly laden
with a shrill chill
Laced in the September air
coming from everywhere
ushering in this brief
hesitation...
As summer retreats

A Lull
I do love a bit of a lull
another chance to then mull
things again over
like these fields of clover
With their keen dappled sheen
a most insistent verdant green
this soft carpet beneath my feet
makes my life once more complete
In a most bucolic way
on this midsummer day
when winter seems so far
as sunlight balms each scar
While I now savor this time
each breath between rhyme
feel my lungs now fill
before I pen my next spill
Safe here in this inner glow
where...

Arctic Dawn
In the land of the midnight sun
this day has just begun
with a bright golden glow
across the thawing landscape
Truth released from the ice
always well worth the price
bestows this wisdom
grants this peace
For life is forever carved
in the blued glacier
in each Alaskan face
a permanent lined trace
Since here I cannot hide
each secret denied
reveals itself now
true as the blue lupines
But...

Handwritten
I feel these written lines
each one as it realigns
heart and mind
flows from pen to paper
Feelings finally felt
as blued icebergs melt
to chill these Yukon waters
refresh me with their honesty
With no gold rush glitter
to make me bitter
I have found truer treasure
in the wisdom of silence
Islands group together
as if meant to weather
another impending winter
when they will bind in ice
But for now I will contend
with summer and its end
before being frost bitten
frozen...

August
This last august bastion
of bold summer
is about to fall
to faint autumn winds
A sudden chill in the air
bids me beware
of looming gloom
of bitter cold
While the tree limbs splinter
recalling the burden of winter
of bold summer
is about to fall
to faint autumn winds
A sudden chill in the air
bids me beware
of looming gloom
of bitter cold
While the tree limbs splinter

Firefly
The night is summer still
even the rowdy crickets
have taken the night off
making me start to scoff
At the lack of anything
not a poetic wing
upon which to try
to hang a single poem
Starting back for home
till I finally see you
my greenish yellow fellow
resting on a single uncut blade
Taking a little rest
from your luminous bob
rising and dropping
your flashing and unflashing
Finally it made me smile
laughing all the while
as you landed on my shoulder ...
even the rowdy crickets
have taken the night off
making me start to scoff
At the lack of anything
not a poetic wing
upon which to try
to hang a single poem

till I finally see you

Pale Sunlight
The summer arctic sun strains
with its own illumination
while gravity pulls the reins
without the slightest hesitation
All this private relativity
in the physics of poetry
prompts such new creativity
within the ignorance of knowetry
It is as if the light is bleached
at these polar latitudes
having finally reached
these ever radiant beatitudes
Even while the water gleams
a sparkle of diamond gems
above these deep gulf streams
from where all imagination stems
...

Summer Solstice
What is there to say about this longest day
how it realigns everything
the height of summer
the plight of wonder
how it is here yet does not last
fading into the past
like so many other memories
we shared it before in many places
always turning our faces
from the sky towards each other
with so much to say
knowing a mere day
is never ever enough
to celebrate
a lifetime loved together
how it realigns everything
the height of summer
the plight of wonder
how it is here yet does not last
fading into the past
like so many other memories
we shared it before in many places
always turning our faces
from the sky towards each other

Wept
The sky has finally wept
the leaves now swept
downstream
across the driveway
The beginning
the first little inkling
of a deciduous sprinkling
of fading leaves
Summer is dying
even though it is trying
to put on a good face
a stiff upper lip
This moment in my grip
just like my pen
mine to own
with wisdom to be known
But what now to say
about the shortening day
the raspy whisper of winter
that freezes all tears
the leaves now swept
downstream
across the driveway
The beginning
the first little inkling
of a deciduous sprinkling
of fading leaves
Summer is dying
even though it is trying
to put on a good face
a stiff upper lip
This moment in my grip
