Disco Ball
Finally, the clouds began to unfold
as the storm tried to blow itself apart
to frame a post-zenith gibbous of gold
which lit the aurum of my midnight heart
as the wind chimes japed out a lively tune
as warm and fresh and full of tropic life
as the vernal glory oft blown in June
or fingered through an independence fife.
But then, just as quickly as revealed,
the blasting billows would as quick return
like some prohibition fast repealed
to throw some moonbeam medleys in the churn
as if chimes and beams were the discotheque ...

on avoiding the wind
not going out in this storm
means we’re stuck at home
this weekend is all about books
tend not to blow me over,
unless they’re really good ..

There's abandonment in an all day rain
when humans surrender to the grey skies
and sit to listen to the gutters drain
and juncos by birdbath freely baptize
with waddle-some mourning doves attending
and squirrels contributing drenched fur grey
for a somber wild kingdom blending
of rodent fleece and bird feather display
and raindrops hanging to refract the air,
sullenly, and to showcase maple bark,
now winter bare for its grey to compare
the melancholy monotones so stark
that when the crows announce their arrival

There Was Nothing Else For Us To Do
Since there was nothing
else for us to do while
our cabin was inside the
storm, both Karen and
I made ourselves strip
down and look at each
other play with our
attached goodies.

An Autumn Rispetto
Something has to blast the last leaf off the tree
and all the scrub jays and squirrels know it well
as vassals of bomb cyclone authority
or a mighty atmospheric river swell...
all over their mobbing of the dangle cobb
cuz those little devils have kernels to rob
from a zephyr bandied helix wire cage...
branch moored in a gauge thick enough for rampage!

Stars
In the night sky's vast incandescence.
Stars whisper secrets of wind presence.
Dreams ignite with hopeful persistence.
Guiding hearts with gentle fluorescence.

Dreams ignite with hopeful persistence.

I've never seen anything so inadequate
never seen ever such an inadeq... wait
I've never been seen as an earthquake
never been anything more than awake
saying it this way may seem a mistake
just leave me alone and keep it stake
you are still there and makes me ache
you're not there anyway and I still wait

Reflection of headlights in the dog's eyes
There's nothing like walking the dog
on the Dia de los Muertos
where the veils between the worlds
are thin and the air is thick with the smell
of marigolds and incense.
In the twilight of life and death
the shadows dance and the whispers
of those who left echo through the night.
In this sacred moment
the living honor the dead
with altars decorated in vibrant tones
candles flickering like souls in the wind.
To be taken away on a night like that
is to be embraced by the unknown

After Summer comes The Rains
i love the summers torrid, their Stark feel
time when the winds hold the time still
wherein the mirage waving like a dream sea
where silhouette twist their eerie entity
zenithal heat, vertical sun, burning limit
zero shadow, Dante's inferno, the sky's lit
zephyr of a sighing giant in the gaping air
under a disk flaming, sending sizzling glare
it feels like time is always and ever hot
lose any reviving, any freshening thought
but,to such flaring flames, the more i light
every flaming pyre, in the deep of night
there,...

A Dance of Shattered Glass
The glass doth break in shards
A splintered, shining rain
As crimson trails, like wounded bards
Sing low in whispered pain
The broken light doth gleam
A fractured, silent cry
And in the blood’s swift, pulsing stream
Life’s fleeting colors lie
Yon scattered glass doth show
A twisted, darkened art
A portrait born of pain and woe
Writ deep within the heart
Each shard, a mirrored face
Reflects the crimson flow
A moment’s rage, a brief disgrace
In blood and glass laid low
A splintered, shining rain
As crimson trails, like wounded bards
Sing low in whispered pain
The broken light doth gleam
A fractured, silent cry
And in the blood’s swift, pulsing stream

Those that stand the tallest here, this world will cause to fall
Taranis chose the fallen night to split the hour that often softens,
Imposing pressure, caressing me, lulling me to feel the call.
Quietly then, he seemed to sigh, soothing me to nurture caution -
‘Those that stand the tallest here, this world will cause to fall’.
Splintered bark, the yawling growl announcing union overlooked,
How slicing struck the scolding grip, splitting, spitting slivered gleams,
Who can trace this instance’ source, now envoy of this stark rebuke,
Or is it invitation only, this sudden thrust to the mouldered dream?
How...

Reave The Sky
Beneath the night’s cold veil
A silence thick and deep
The stars begin to pale
As darkness starts to creep
From out the void it came
A flash without a light
Not fire, nor burning flame
But shadows taking flight
The tenebrous lightning rends
The heavens, black as stone
Through starless skies it bends
With power yet unknown
No thunder follows fast
No storm to howl its name
But in the void it passed
And nothing stayed the same
It splits the aether wide
Unveils the darkened seam ...
