The Girl Goes Out Without a Jacket on the First Sunny Day
or, The First Buds of April
The mist lies low in all the deeps and hollows.
Clinging branches hold
to Winter’s trace,
but cannot stop our prancing
purple kiss –
the grace of promised change
has come at last.
The dark
is not the longest part of day,
now light will run
her fingers through our hair.
Our heart, long cold, is finally thawing out
and frigid night is not
where we will stay.
Old women warn of winter
still concealed
within the open arms of April’s reach. ...

HAPPY SPRING DAYS
Happy colors bloom in spring
As bumble bees and hummingbirds step out to sting
Pretty trees all dressed with their leaves
Poignant silence drifts at ease
Yes! Rustled silence drift with breeze
Springtime bursts with vibrant hues
Pastel pinks, blues and yellows too
Ravens, foxes, and easter bunnies
Introduce themselves in springtime funnies
Napping, hopping, nibbling honey
Gone are the days of winter shunning!
Days of spring last not so long
Are here today and tomorrow gone
Yelp and play and sing and shout

The Best Spring Times Are –
the roll down the windows, let my hair
tangle in the just-mown-grassy wind
while I belt classic country songs
(and by classic, I mean Jo Dee Messina),
your hand curve-squeezed around my thigh,
and my hand riding the rushing spring,
curving miles speed underneath our feet while we
navigate by whatever star blinks awake next
times;
the sitting in the dark counting down
the days til lightning bug sparks,
drinking tea (mine will always be iced
and sweet) laced with the first sunny
warm day of the year, and stealing
kisses...

Spring Fever
Winter gave way to summer
last week
I guess that's the way weather works now
But today dawned beautifully spring
and asked nothing more of me
than a bike ride
and a nap
Contented as a cat
sleeping peacefully in perfectly cool breezes
resting easy in the knowledge
I don't have to miss you
anymore

just ducks in the park
so now we’re a couple of old
pensioners
sitting in the park feeding the ducks,
reading the newspapers,
aware that the international situation
looks bad
and trump’s america has changed
sides of bread on which we muse and question
our choice of sandwiches
from tesco’s,
I’d have preferred mine with
french mustard, she says

~nowadays: dandelions and the dog of time
1.
the delicately hardened
strawy hued dry achenes
had set their route..
unknown
unpredictable..
wind steers
their destiny..
freely parachuting
long to shores unknown..
as they land.. just only their heady
basal seed remains .. losing their
angelic wings .. that had swam
through the wild uproarious airs
2.

Spring talks
Cherry blossoms are singing to me,
In whispers soft as the rustling breeze,
Petals dance gracefully from the tree,
Painting the air with delicate ease.
They sway in the sunlight, a pink-tinted hue,
Each bloom tells a story of warmth and of cheer,
As springtime awakens the world to renew,
Their sweet, fleeting beauty draws close and draws near.
I wander beneath their soft, gentle sighs,
Lost in the magic of nature's embrace,
Each branch like a lover who tenderly ties
Moments of wonder in a luminous space.
So let...

Sea Dreams
Blue sky
Hawk circles in sunlight
Beneath puffy clouds winds whisper
Secrets of old tides
Standing tall
Daisy flowers honeysuckle bushes
And soft flower trees
Sway in the midst
Of birds bees and butterflies
In the gentle breeze
Hovering over the meadow fields
Of the dragonfly and trickling streams
Meandering down to the
Riverside scenes
Wherein the evening
The pale moonlight gleams
Illuminating the path
To the sea
And the tranquility
Of peaceful dreams
Hawk circles in sunlight
Beneath puffy clouds winds whisper
Secrets of old tides
Standing tall

Magic Of New Beginnings
Stripped of leaves of hope and confidence
You're caught in winter's cold embrace
Snow covers you like a white shroud
Hold on, little tree, your rebirth is near
Spring will assist you as your midwife
The scent of flowers lingers in the air
A soft breeze caresses your barky skin
Sun rays worship your swelling buds
Birds chirp sweet melodies of longing
A swallow builds and artfully nest
The Man of Green asked for your hand
Put on your floral white wedding dress
Open up completely, don't hold back
Celebrate the holy...

Seasonal Expedition
Our expedition started in Fall, days get short, nights are cold, then the frost freezes all.
Do you remember Winter my belly warmed up them toes.
Sniffling and sneezing as the boogers flow from your nose.
For me please be patient as Winter breaks into spring. blanket of snow soon will melt, you and I listen to all the songs they will sing.
We chirp our way into summer, warm, fuzzy sun has its lips on our skin. Let's not cheap out on the lotion or we might boil from within.

Spring is near
Winter suddenly hides away
waterfalls once frozen
flowing downward into the bay
Lonely sidewalks decay, after before
spring is arriving soon
the end of the bridge lies an open door
Broken dreams picked up where they last fell
the emotional wasteland sleeps again
my love through words, encouraged to tell

Hint of spring
Winter has finally broken
like fever chills
Moisture returning to the air
No longer crisp dry
cracking skin
drying nostrils
A faint warmth
brushing cheeks
Purple tinged buds
not yet breaking
swelling with promise
like fever chills
Moisture returning to the air
No longer crisp dry
cracking skin
drying nostrils
A faint warmth
brushing cheeks
Purple tinged buds
not yet breaking
