Ode to Will.
O how we ache to ape your dexterous pen
from home to academe and beyond,
advertising addiction, once again
fat-witted, keyless to your fairylands.
We've compacted with devils, pilgrimaged
to the dual new place of birth and death,
become churchlike there, there to be amazed
to breathe air holding mem'ry of your breath.
Enrapt to hobnob where you, honeytongued,
for such gossip I'm a wanton glutton
enhoped to have pen and my words reyounged
to your age, to be kissed with your atoms,
Still sparkling nigh...

Flying Free
I eat with gusto with panache and belch
and fart as teeth crack crunch and suck marrow,
from bones of my mother's tongue all nigh squelched
within my lexicon, sleeping, fallow...
An alphabetical herd most unheard
words hobbled, clipped-winged, bridled and hamstrung
corralled within my dictionary, tamed,
dusty unused and now, sadly, grown dumb.
I will digest and regurgitate those
not lame, damaged not able to be freed,
into the wild for rhyme and, for some, prose,
the brute the lamb, there they go, flying free... ...

Goodbye Now
I saw you pause, recover, then move on,
amid the bustle of your city crowd,
I too was struck motionless, pale and wan,
before shuffling on muttering out loud.
You looked so tall, so handsome, somehow,
so far removed from that young lad when,
you and I held hands making future vows
amid the clutter of your secret den.
Now I, through the near empty city streets,
amongst the debris of a hurried day,
recall that brief moment when you, so neat,
frowned on me who merely got in your way.
Although hurt by blank face and...

Spring Clean
Spring is in the air and for sure it works
I'm busy with dusters and suchlike stuff,
this sap's rising and for once I'll not shirk
in shaking the house free of dust and fluff.
And the cobwebby clutter of my mind
blown clean with wide open window of eyes,
my melatonin induced sleep, seemed kind
during cold nights, till I woke to spring's highs...
And, NaPoWriMo Twenty-Twenty-Four,
proving their dedication to their art,
with new poetical subjects galore,
as I, again think, next year, I'll take part... ...

In recognition
I'd heard about the Higgs Boson and field
how this gives most particles all their mass,
except for the photons to these it yields
as they bring light to us ever so fast.
And dark matter, this is filling the void,
which in the blinking of an eye exists,
and just as equally fast is destroyed
like us their light does not for long persist.
Then there's dark energy, strange stuff for sure,
Is pushing this vast universe apart,
perhaps Peter Higgs, still, at ninety-four
now knows everything, close to his heart...

Birthing Empires...
Birthing empires can prove painful things
this wedding of church to murderous thieves,
their names matter not, Pharoes, Tzar or King
they've no faith, stealing land is their belief...
In strange empires where sanctioned faith rules
in conspiracy of priesthood and sword,
each bolsters each terror reign on duped fools
forced to believe their bible's ev'ry word.
For sure they were force fed their killer faith
ripped from innocence with fear poured in heads

Specky 4 Eyes
I have been short sighted all of my life
I still squint at things myopically,
my folks tried to teach me to tell the time
with a clock high on the wall, do you see?
Yes? Well, that's a bit more than I could do
perplexed with, " this the big hand, this the small "
me, nodding my head, I bet you would too!
at that blob high up on the kitchen wall.
Well, I bluffed it out till I started school
and kept, not my eyes, but ears open wide,
and nine times outta ten I had folk fooled
but confess when I...

Your old Grin.
Ah, pity me for I have no pity
although you are the far weaker one now,
when you suffered me to come unto thee
In the authority of your cleric's gown.
Do you know you can hear trees drinking water
when deep underground, It soothes cares away,
a tinkling sound like some fairy laughter
where you will sleep easy, for all and a day?
Do not take on so, it will keep you safe,
from violent vengeance seekers like myself,
I shall allow you a moments prayer, or rage,
before stripping you of your oh, so rude health.
So, meet...

Song of Spring
There's a soft subtle change to sunlight now
perhaps bringing an echo of some spring,
and a great bustling sound now all around
the various garden birds twittering
within the still cold barrenness of trees
but, there's a kinda lightness to the rain
falling on the snowdrops on the browned green
of last year's grass, as the crocuses strain
to bring their colour into this new light,
and crisper brisk beats to people's swift feet
mimicking scudding clouds in their bright heights

A Little Schooling...
It was the center of my childish days
replete with gas-lit streets and killer smog,
the walls, black-soot-pitted from acid rain,
and outside toilets where, sometimes, we'd snog...
But the hand-basins now just reach my thigh
and the rough Izal toilet paper, gone,
along with coal-tar soap this stung my eyes
but I recall we chorused great school songs,
and weaved gay candy-striped maypole ribbons
as to the ' keel row ' we high-stepped a reel,
or...

Let's hear it for the Stromatolites
T. dohrnii or the Stromatolite
which of these creatures would you rather be,
the hard-worked one, immortal, born to die
then reborn again thus, so endlessly?
Ah, poor T. dohrnii never knows peace
stressed or starved to death then forced to rebirth
a never ending cycle no release,
cursed to wander oceans and seas, of earth...
But Stromatolites, Earth's oldest life form,
a strange sleeping fossil made oxygen,
and kissed into life breathing as the norm
these five-hundred million years, just gone.

It is strange today, I feel sad
bought a new cell phone and sensed it was too expensive
I never liked spending money on myself makes
I feel guilty, like I do not deserve it.
I bought a suit when I was twenty a nice suit I bought
in Stockholm, it soon got too small, and I gave it
to my sister's husband.
Being the stinting sort, he wore it until it fell off.
When a child, I never wore anything new
only hand-me-down
I was OK with that.
The phone is black, and I feel intimidated by its sternness
when I switch it on,...
