Dragonfly
Maroon.
Sparklie.
Cystels.
Chuck-berry red.
Set in silver.
Did'nt fly away.
I saw.
I looked.
Settled in my hand.
A thing of beauty.
Gift not for me.
Perhaps another?
No one.
Came to mind.
After a time.
It adorned.
My hat.
Till one day.
It Flew away.
Landing.
On another.
A hat of such.

Pleased.
It found another.
I was sad.
It had left me.
Yet grateful. ...

Because of you
Was it a coincidence to see you once more?
Now, these emotions that once subsided have found meaning again.
I must take advantage of what can transpire and not succumb to timidity like before.
I cannot lose control. She is wonderful, but my heart is broken.
Some might say that it's okay to pretend, since I'm used to these sorrowful feelings.
My memory hasn't always been the best.
In my defense, I tend to be oblivious.
Were her glances warm, or has time turned them cold?
I must get serious.
Pondering the past will never allow me to grow.
Maybe...

The pages fall off the calendar
As the leaves go from green to red then gold
My existence has lost all meaning
Unless I exist in bed next to you
The softness of your skin draws me in
