Boundaries in Bloom
In the garden of my heart, where love’s roots run deep,
There blooms a tough, tender truth I must keep.
Among the thorns of harsh words, under weeping willow trees,
I plant my feet firmly, nurtured by a gentle breeze.
A table placed with care, a gift chosen with thought,
Yet the feast of affection cold, the present left to rot.
Words, like autumn leaves, fall sharp and unkind,
I gather them softly peace, the treasure I find.

If the world gave up...
If the world gave up,
I would still be fighting.
Because I love to love.
Fuck what the world says:
"Love means only some."
"love isn't worth the hate."
I love the silver linings.
If the world gave up,
I would still be standing.
I broke the chains of shame and crying.
Or I am older now, but the world is older.
Though even elders make cracks in the pavements walked by youth.

The NO! machine malfunction
Eeny meenie miney moe,
my day is flying – watch it go!
The to-do list is like a rope
around my neck – there is no hope…
…that I can get out of this heap
when every task is layers deep
and messages won’t quit – BEEP BEEP!
and people keep on asking me…
…to do the things I promised them.
What was I thinking way back then??
My stupid optimistic mind
has bit me in my own behind!
There’s only one thing this could mean --
I have to fix my NO! machine.

Final Battle*
Final Battle*
I have worn many hats and played many parts
and made numerous costume changes in my various roles
Sadly, first hand one day I will know "for whom the bell tolls"
until then I will cherish the good in a bad day if I have any smarts
In this lifetime, I have learn a few things
like the fact all 7 billion of us are flawed human beings
And when my back is against the wall
my best move is to drop my knees and pray to stand tall
that the written words of fools and sages
both begin on...

Brand New Illiteracy
With no more reverence for script
we are like the Eloi now
amid old books which won't endow
aloof cerebra ill equipped
to see the future much improved
from Anthropocentric shambles
and apocalyptic brambles
no lords of order have approved
for any Eden garden plot
on this or any other Earth,
steadfast for merriment and mirth
and by no petrodollar bought.
Come what may...we must ever read
if from that doom we would be freed.

Work Hours
It's been a long night
And I haven't slept
I'm tired as hell
But the sun is on the rise
So I gotta move my ass
And get shit done
I have a full time job
But I hustle on the side
And I put another 50 hours in
Each week
And then the weekend rolls in
Which should be a time to rest
But instead I work another job
Just to make ends meet
In the middle of my life
Maybe I'll get some sleep
Sometime next week
If I can find an hour or so
Or take a day off
I'm sure I can fit it in somewhere

Time Divided
5 days on,
2 days off
alternating
every other week
Split custody
isn't the easiest,
but I would never complain
That bond is the most integral
and I divide my life
based on those responsibilities
It is always strange
once I return to the quiet of house
once again,
there is a fusion of sadness
and relief
And sometimes the best tonic
once I am alone again
is a healthy escape
into those imaginative worlds
engaging in those devious thoughts
of bodies and release
