The bee and the flower, how could either know
that because of their little dance the world lives?
Writing words is like waxing one’s carrot, to borrow from a colorful George Carlin metaphor. One sees something and it sets off a spark in the loins. What are words on a page but the end result of the same spark? and what is a sperm cell that is produced without first being a very pleasant hit of dopamine .
This is our process, displayed through a billion variations on the same life-giving theme and force.
But for every word written in this single suspended...

Just My Opinion
My mind can only take so much input before I have to rant it out. I try not to complain because I chose to be informed, and make it part of my writing style. That’s on me, and I’m too old to learn any new tricks it appears. I’m beginning to think I’m just a glutton for punishment.
I’m kinda glad I never made it to the big time, when it comes to music. The whole Diddy thing is really exposing the underbelly of the music industry. I knew there was always a dark and secretive side of the business, but some of the things that’s been spilled made me come to one conclusion. “The...

What Lonely, Hopeless Alphas Don't Understand
Imagine this: you're living alone, you begin to think of companionship and simply not being alone. Your goal is to be honest about who you are and to be accepted for the shortcomings you are working towards fixing. So, alone you stay, making a space you can love so you may have one to learn how to love yourself, and you learn. Little by little, you learn how to make yourself feel secure and safe. You do so by being financially responsible enough to live a life that gives you freedom to do what you want. Your bills aren't just manageable, they're almost nonexistent with no credit card balances...

Roth-ism
I don’t know if this story will have any legs to it when it comes to an underlying meaning, like I usually strive for. Sometimes I need to dial things back or I’ll go crazy writing about the state of the world. It needs to be fun, something to lighten the mood. Like cracking a joke can sometimes relieve tension. You follow?
I would tell a joke, but all of mine are dirty and my humor might be to crude for some. So I’ll travel the safer road and not risk offending anyone.
If you’ve been following any of my stories, you know I once was in a couple of...

Road Trip (Part Three)
Entering the mouth of the city, blinding lights invading our eyes, as we exit off the pitch black interstate. My brother pulls into the Liquor Barn parking lot bringing the Oldsmobile to a stop right at the entryway. Cigarette smoke pools around the headliner inside the car, as we make our way towards the entrance.
The three of us enter the store while my brother waits outside like a getaway driver. Ever notice when you’ve been drinking and have to interact with the public that you do your damndest to appear sober. Even though there is no way to camouflage that fact...

Life Moves In Circles
For those who follow my, Backstage show on YouTube a new episode is up. The link is on my speakeasy here at DU if interested. I’m trying to navigate the waters of being on YouTube, takes some getting used to.
There’s also some chatter through the grapevine about a possible poetry album. Now this is not definite yet, it’s in the works. Mainly because my idea is to read poetry over music composed by a longtime brother of mine. And since he lives many miles away, we’re going to have to do this through technology. So we got logistics to work out, it would seem.

Own It
Own it. Omg. I’m becoming a motivational speaker. What is about me that cares so much about being the best me I can be. Also did I just use “Omg”, what the hell is happening to me. That is something I never thought I’d do, this is what using “lol” leads too. I’m not feeling very analog all the sudden.
In all seriousness, folks. Every time I write in prose form, I know I’m gonna be telling some stories. Which is exciting because the possibilities are endless. I never thought I’d like the freedom this form of writing gives you. Why don’t I do this all the time?? Because it...

Catch-22
Sometimes it seems I don’t know this world anymore. I mean sure I know the government is corrupted with people who are on the take. Every season brings more decay into the moral fabric of decency. It’s always been there since the whole experiment began. I’m not blind to what’s going on, I just can’t believe how fast we’re falling now. Spiraling into chaotic forms of anger and turmoil.
No such thing as having a conversation without mudslinging and name calling. Not just the political figureheads vying for office. Just like Regan’s trickle down economics, this venom that started...

Random Ramblings #2014
Man, you got to keep it together in here,
One false move, one sign of weakness or regret,
an they’ll move in on you like shark on blood Vato,
“Comprendes… Me entiendes Mendez”
There’s no place for that in here,
Emotions will get you killed faster than anything
In a place like this, there are only three things you can do,
Sleep, read and workout…
But understand how to escape in your mind,
And it’s that last one that will keep you from going insane
There, no one can touch you,
Because this hell is repetition, and always full of what ifs, ...

Different Name, Same Show
How does one know if they’re a poet? I only ask, because I’ve never been sure that I qualify as one? This is not me being negative about my ability, it’s kinda just the way I’m wired. I really think it’s because I spent so much time being a lyricist.
After spending so many years focused on rhyming and the lyrical format, it became the genesis of where I began writing. All I did to write poetry was essentially chop off the choruses. No kidding, people. That was all I done.
I mean I picked up little things along the way, different rhyming patterns, messing...

Music Stories Episode 9 (The Guess Who - No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature)
Welcome to music stories. I’m your host, Damian DeadLove. Tonights band is another that calls Canada home. I’m talking about, The Guess Who. Huge fan of this band as well. I’ve been listening to them a lot lately, and realized there is a pretty good story about them.
The Guess Who are: Burton Cummings - Lead Vocals, and Keyboards, Randy Bachman - Guitar, and Backing Vocals, Jim Kale - Bass, and Garry Peterson - Drums. This was the most popular line up of the band from, 1968 to 1970. By the way that is the same, Randy Bachman that would later start the band, Bachman-Turner...

Because Dreams Have a Life of Their Own
Xavier leaves tomorrow. It’s a vacation he’s wanted for years. He’ll be traveling alone, overseas for close to four months. He’s a world traveler, constantly having the need to find home, when home has betrayed him so often. We’re kindred spirits that way, in many ways, yet the things we share in common don’t seem to be enough. I sent him a long text a couple weeks ago. Another text baring my soul. I’m sure he’s tired of them. I don’t expect him to respond. As a matter of fact, I told him I only desire a response if that is what he desires. I owe him at least that. I’ve released any...
