Short Poems About the Morning
#morning
a slight cool breeze
as winter
came near,
i stowed
my aging
bones
safely away
from
the cold,
and close
to huddling
near my
gas heater,
all tidied
to the
warmth
inside,
but as
the day
turned
satisfactory,
i wandered
outside
until
a slight
cool breeze
blew my
thoughts
away from
fresh air
and
sunshine,
now back
into my
covered
and heated
sanctuary.

but as

now back
into my
covered
and heated
sanctuary.

the table was broken

into warmer weather
the morning
hours
rakes into
the day,
and each
moment
endures
nonstop
strands of
another
winter
season,
but inching
its way
into warmer
weather.

Morning Snow
Snowed in
Natures house arrest
Warm cider
Picture perfect
Kind of day
Sunshine and silent snowfall
Gleaming ice
Wind wisping our troubles away

fireflies singing
i heard
the fireflies
singing,
their
lights,
flames
burning
into
the night,
stars
watch
with their
sighs,
and then
silence,
the dawn
comes,
fills the
morning,
the sun
like
incense
for
the skin.

the sun is tired
how
the sun
seems
tired,
i watched
as it
traveled
past my
window,
it marches
from
morning
to dark,
its eyes
flutter,
tired
in body
and thought,
it
relinquishes
the night
to the
moon.

broken light
that early
morning
dawn was
breaking,
but still
felt well
enough
to take
a walk
with me.

Becoming A Victim Of Mistaken Identity
Karen woke in someone's bedroom.
She's wearing clothes that are not hers.
Then, someone said "Hello. Carolyn."

and i sat
waiting,
hoping,
one
more day,
from darkness
to trade
with
that bright
sun,
to trade
stories,
to laugh
at each
other's jokes,
to see
how long
i can wait.

that storm came
that storm
came,
up early
enough
while
still dark
outside,
arguing
with himself,
waking
the morning
from
its sleep,
deciding
it wasn't
worth
arguing alone.
