How do I do it
ever hope to reclaim
what is left of my name
of my sullied honor
Spilt upon the floor
tarnished evermore
so diminished
by these sinful deeds
As each one concedes
those sins I have made
the path I have laid
out here before me
How does one cleanse
while one pretends
to be unstained
again be to christened
For I have listened
to all the whispers
around each corner
that never seem to ever redeem
ever hope to reclaim
what is left of my name
of my sullied honor
Spilt upon the floor
tarnished evermore
so diminished
by these sinful deeds
As each one concedes
those sins I have made
the path I have laid

How does one cleanse
while one pretends

For I have listened
to all the whispers
around each corner
that never seem to ever redeem

Here In
With your arms around the future,
your back up against the past” ~ The Moody Blues
This moment is
everything…
Ever agile
yet ever fragile
a tattered sail
against a relentless wind
Unable to rescind
a lifetime of sin
nor avoid the void
of an uncertain future
Yet within the flow
lies the truth to know
what mysteries remain

Jupiter Series: II, Transitions
Because I have the body of Jupiter
after the sweep dwell of light
that has steeped far past a babble,
past the superseding of emotions
and shambolic philosophy,
past snapped bonds
and savage poses of the loved, these
who fought with shares of knowledge
are just as in the dark
as when I switch off the light
and left topless frozen
by the nothingness as sight
must solve to the silvery
flopping feelings
in the glowing dark, we pause,

Watermark
the poeted page is full
of nothingness...
empty words on vacant lines
random thoughts of many kinds
dumped out
all in doubt
leaving me here spent
left to repent
for every other sin
as tears douse the spark
reveal their Watermark
of nothingness...

Masochist
The nights disappear like bruises”
~ W.S. Merwin
I love to impale myself
upon the bruising night
let it reek its dark havoc
upon my willing skin
Enthralled by a sin
I can claim as my own
no need for beads
or such superficial chants
As my soul then galavants
to the head of the line
with dollars paid
the same bruises always made
In the slept-in bed I lie in
along with my unfaithful truth

Atonement
For me it is so easy to see
How each sin is a true win-win
Just a little pious remorse
Helps me again reset my course
With a wee bit of heretic laughter
Lightening up the hereafter
While I sing every single dirge
As my mind longs to again splurge
Seek some sort of postponement
For any serious atonement

Helps me again reset my course

Timed
The seconds do slip away
following a script
from first cradle to crypt
always an unending march
As the sun makes its arch
across a disinterested sky
never asking why
even stars do meet their end
While the willow seeks to bend
in the strongest breeze
these accommodating trees
have read this passion play
With our ending still the same
no matter who we blame
for this finitude
this briny mortality
Forge so day by day

Tempest
I always find myself
here on the shelf
on the green-gray cusp
the violent brink
As the tumult resumes
such billowing plumes
of grey-green clouds
issuing their warning
Whether evening or morning
so unmistakable
a covenant unbreakable
by any human hand
Still able to remand
the chances of life
the penitence of strife
always to be paid in full
Leaving me clinging
to a poem
where my spirit can safely roam
free within any tattering wind
here on the shelf
on the green-gray cusp
the violent brink
As the tumult resumes
such billowing plumes
of grey-green clouds
issuing their warning
Whether evening or morning
so unmistakable

Je Regrette Tout
I collect them all up
it seems
in my melancholy dreams
these gathered regrets
As if one ever forgets
all of the mistakes
all of the hesitations
of a meandering life
Not kissing Mary Conway
in second grade
then at sixteen sleeping with Danny D.
forever ... unprotected
All of these ghosts resurrected
such a haunting choir
lurking as a reminder
of sins spilled so easily
While I lay them out
end to end
still trying to pretend
I have somehow atoned
it seems
in my melancholy dreams
these gathered regrets
As if one ever forgets
all of the mistakes
all of the hesitations
of a meandering life
Not kissing Mary Conway
in second grade
then at sixteen sleeping with Danny D.
forever ... unprotected
All of these ghosts resurrected
such a haunting choir
lurking as a reminder
of sins spilled so easily
While I lay them out
end to end
still trying to pretend

Fugitive
So many days end the same way
unresolved
unforgiven
while I trailblaze this lone path
Always doing the math
weighing my options
the pros and cons
all the offs and ons
Ones and zeros
those digital heroes
cannot even seem to help
crunch all of the numbers
While every thicket and thorn
leaves each promise torn
tattered
by an unfaithful guide
Leaving me nowhere to hide
save
in the deep wood
fleeing both evil and good
unresolved
unforgiven
while I trailblaze this lone path
Always doing the math
weighing my options
the pros and cons
all the offs and ons
Ones and zeros
those digital heroes
cannot even seem to help
crunch all of the numbers
While every thicket and thorn
leaves each promise torn

Leaving me nowhere to hide

Anatomic
look at this mastery
instead look at the people
rushing up down this way along
all that violence glitters through
my veins a delicate ambulance of violet
thronging its way to be alive
that's all it is a vessel it is a vessel a vessel it is
what rushes
all the tell-tattle signs
of a rattling
instant
that safety is a suburb of mind
instead look at the people
rushing up down this way along
all that violence glitters through
my veins a delicate ambulance of violet
thronging its way to be alive
