Diary Entry 1: One or Two. I Pick Three.
I.
The gift, a paper frog, telling me
to press as I like to do
on a gift gingerly and calls me beautiful
(asking me how to say so)
and leaves a scribble
mentioning I look smart (even without glasses)
how do you look smart (without glasses)
and she with her boyfriend hopes
I stay in touch, I always stay
in touch with the paper
leaping by myself over spaces
intended to be separate

L'esprit d'escalier
i want to shine back up the staircase
to tell you exactly exaltedly
just how the power-towers look
splayed like men; i split-lickety-split
let us stead the radio-waves
if we maybe thought as they did
and evolved enthusiasm
through the precision
of motions and handheld devices in bed
let us shake romanticism by its grotto
if loosely we stayed as lewd
as glass when cooled
but moved as a pebble spun from tires
hairline-fracturing the foreclosure
let us stump the rainfall
