Diary Entry 1: One or Two. I Pick Three.
I.
The gift, a paper frog, telling me
to press as I like to do
on a gift gingerly and calls me beautiful
(asking me how to say so)
and leaves a scribble
mentioning I look smart (even without glasses)
how do you look smart (without glasses)
and she with her boyfriend hopes
I stay in touch, I always stay
in touch with the paper
leaping by myself over spaces
intended to be separate
theyleaptogetheranyway
if you poke at the paper
in a sustained manner (she likes rocks)

L'esprit d'escalier
i want to shine back up the staircase
to tell you exactly exaltedly
just how the power-towers look
splayed like men; i split-lickety-split
let us stead the radio-waves
if we maybe thought as they did
and evolved enthusiasm
through the precision
of motions and handheld devices in bed
let us shake romanticism by its grotto
if loosely we stayed as lewd
as glass when cooled
but moved as a pebble spun from tires
hairline-fracturing the foreclosure
let us stump the rainfall

A Kiss at the Circus of Horrors
Two men, painted in oil on canvas
are under the striped canvas.
Amidst the crowd of curious eyes
in the circus of horrors
where normality is challenged.
Their lips touch, soft and bold,
like a secret shared in the shadows,
they challenge conventions, break chains.
While watched with fascination and buzz.
Simple natural men, their bodies sculpted
they bow towards each other, like flowers in the sun.
Expressions of joy and pleasure on faces
as if the outside world faded away
and only love remained.

Hymn to Destruction
i.
in the end
women opened their throats
loud enough to hear
confessions & testimonies
those words waited for therapies
every Monday with smart suits
and dying yucca plants to write
the words: “never release”
ii.
hibernation with the folks
after insanity blew your fuse,
back to where the forests
were no longer alive
it wore big shirts, found Jesus,
took up climbing and smoking
in a beat up car.
Death with too much to say.

The Stutterer and the Blind Man
Mr. Walters is speaking to Mr. Forbes and he is stuttering.
Mr. Forbes is blind, so he depends on his hearing.
He cannot clearly hear what Mr. Walters is saying.
“Is someone talking to me?” Mr. Forbes asked.
“What is he speaking, Spanish or French?” He added.

Today
Oh what drab, colorless roils drape the sky
As the sky, ashen, grey faced the sun
Clouds billowing
Spread out as tho' to compass all
The sun, the moon, and stars do hide
Those lamps of heavens reaffirming light
Tho' not darkest all -
Not as dark as familiar men's souls
Now conspiracy and conceit do creep
As knavery, treachery, like the worm doth crawl
Burrowing archly in soft rot
Not as men who on stout legs stand
Thin voices hiss the birthing of death
So discourse this discordant band
Full of hubris and cold...

Cocooned In Silk
One wild and wintry winter
He ventured to the wood
Guided only by the eerie moonlight
As he reached the spot, where a monster once stood
He called out "Oh monster!"
"Come to me forthwith"
"I wish to make a deal with you"
"That one day you may'st forgive"
He waited upon a mossy bank
Surrounded by frozen leaves
And within a moment of minutes
A loud crunching could be perceived
As he beckoned it even closer
He began to perceive its size
As wide as a felled oak tree ...

Hymn to Creation
i.
in the beginning
there was a ram
made of wounds
and starlight
electrical currents
for blood masked
a humble den
of deceit
ii.
the bear tasted
of dark, honeyed pine
forming clenched palms
in the veiled morning mist
carpet burns on knees
that wholly eroticised
the initials carved
into a thigh
iii.
rabbit peered from her hole
flat-eared and frightened,
a universe imploding...

they were never traced
two old blokes, sitting in their
armchairs, would often discuss
last year’s series of robberies
in the village; one looked slightly shamefaced, but the other, raising
his glass, said, here’s to us ..
